Would you still have preffered Marion?

Looking back to a few weeks ago, most here wanted us to keep Marion and keep our MLE/LLE/. Of course thinking that Turkoglu coming here would mean a slim chance of retaining our Bird rights and MLE/LLE.

But now that it is done and Colangelo pulled it off and we keep our MLE/LLE and didn't have to renounce our FA would you still have preffered us keeping Marion or is this a better option?

No way... Marion is aging, and being that his main asset is his athleticism a 5 year deal would have been excessive. At least Hedo is worth the money for the first 3-4 years of his deal. I doubt he'll have difficulty gell'ing with the team, it now all depends on how BC fills the roster out.

I was all for Hedo from the very beginning. I just don't see us getting very far or even to the playoffs with Marion.

I recall being ostracized when I suggested Marion does not want to be here and we should get Hedo..my things have changed..

Hedo is still unproven as a Raptor so ya gotta go with Marion. He added a lot defensively and all those rebounds added up to a lot better break out and easy baskets.

People say he's aging but he still had the fastest jump so he wasn't showing signs of aging.

Hedo adds offense but no defense.

Still not convinced they can make the playoffs with this lineup.

Saving the MLE was a big deal though. Without the options it allows the bench would have sucked for years.

with marion, you know what your getting. a fast break player, that rebounds.

with turk you get a play maker, own shot creator with vision of a PG.

turk hands down, marion can only play when someone is able to feed him the ball, turk doesn't need any of that.

ops i voted marion by accident. Marion is an athletic player that is already 31. On a five year contract he is going to be 36. Now he skill set has already died down from his glory days with the suns and with age he is ony going to get slower. Shit the guy relies compeatly on his athleticism and has to shot to help him out as he continues to age. Hedo was a much better choice hands down

act as if turk has been great for 10 years.... he was medicore in sacramento and only emerged in orlando as scoring threat in the last 2 years. Marion has a resume full of double double type years, u know what he is, alot of raptor fans really dont know what they are getting from Hedo, they watched orlando in the playoffs and he played well.

Also, we have been able to score of the last 4 years, thats not our issue, he does address who gets the ball for last 2nd shots tho, but besides that, i dont think he adds much more to our team tbh, i'd take Marion (for less then 10 a year obv) and try to find a cheaper slasher, idc if he can PG a bit, we have a PG that dominates the ball, we dont need that, we just need a slasher offensively. We are in much more desperate need of defense, rebounds and leadership on defense, none of which have been addressed in our starting lineup. Unless DD somehow becomes this star much of you seem to think he will...... didnt Joey tear up the summer leagues??

im not convinced either, ppl here severely overrate hedo. overpaying for a 3rd option doesnt make you insta contenders. Esp when to get that 3rd option you downgrade heavily on the bench, D, rebounds.

But relying on a 9th pick in a shitty draft to come thru and be a difference maker, start and play shutdown D is obv not wishful thinking.

Or going back in the past to overachieving teams that never really where contenders and bringing back Delfino and Rasho obv puts us over the top.

It doesn't make us instant contenders, but with hedo and added bench depth which we'll obviously have this is certainly a playoff team and if Jose stays healthy imo this team has a chance at beating there 47 win record. This yeam appears to be able to sustain injuries and not lose 8 in a row. Especially if Derozan can be fairly staedy.

Marion. He complements our bigs very well since you don't have to draw up plays for him and he's the only one fighting for rebounds. Two times the defender than Hedo. However, five years is way too long.

I definitely prefer Hedo over Marion ! I always felt like his defense was a bit overrated and he's also a year older than Hedo. He did a nice job here in Toronto but I don't believe that he would have been the right guy for the next couple of years...

The east isnt the joke it once was, the top of it will crush us, and i dont think we are that much better then any of the teams after orlando/boston/cleveland to say we can win 47 games.... im willing to bet we dont win 45

Alot of unproven things, and ppl are aiming at our greatest season ever.... guys better start slowing down on that talk, how many teams think they will win 47 games and are considering starting an immature 9th overall in this kind of draft??? I prob can answer that... none.

Do you really think wright and george bring us any scoring from the bench?? If anything, we lose scoring from the bench, we add a little toughness in evans, but that unit is gonna suck imo, the 1st unit is formidalbe offensively, but the leaks defensively will be hard to cover, unless DD somehow becomes all defense his 1st year in the league.

who will? delfino?? does that add anything defensively or another chucker?? I wont say until i see the finished product, but as of now, our starting lineup is like old school phx north, with half the talent and even less defense and a coach im unsure of what kind of vision he has, what kind of team are we??

I don't believe that Derozan will be the starting SG for the raps this season, this would be a huge surprise IMO ! The raps should give him some time to learn how to play in the NBA and develop some aspects of his game. Let's sign a solid starter with the full MLE and let Demar develop into a nice player !

Well UGO im sorry to say but marions best years are well behind him. That was proven with the fact that he was traded 3 times in 3 years now and that his numbers have been dropping. I can say that 4 years at 32 milion would have been ok, but considering he was expecting something in the 40+ range i dont know how u can think hedo wasent a better choice. Simple fact: Marion is getting old and all his athletic play is slowly going down hill. Now what does one do when al they bring to the game is atheltic slashing and defense. Shit if we wanted to overpay for a defensive player we should have gotten ben wallace, u know the guy who averged like 4 ppg last year..... thats marion in 3 years. Fuck man, the guy shoots the dam ball from his waste for dam sakes.

Just because marion played 13 goods games at the end of the year against mostly shitty teams in his contract year doesnt do enough for me to bring him back for 5 years at 40 million
