Raptors Wolstat's mid season grades

Toronto Raptors mid-season report card | Raptors | Sports | Toronto Sun

Quote:
Amir Johnson

C- (B+) A great December saves him from a worse grade. Mr. Dependable has not been himself this season and has had serious dips in his play in November and January.

Kyle Lowry

A+ (B-) Has given Raptors everything they could have asked for. All-star calibre play on the court and good leadership off of it.
Quote:
Patrick Patterson

A- (C+). Has been a perfect addition. Third big man scores inside and out, defends and rebounds at a good rate. Has turned game around after struggling in Sacramento.

Terrence Ross

B- (C-) Has taken major strides following a disappointing rookie season. Three-point shot has been better than anyone expected and is defending perimeter well. Could be more consistent.

John Salmons

B- (D+) The offence has been a bonus since it had been declining for years, but the real value Salmons has brought is with his steady defence and veteran savvy.

Jonas Valanciunas

C- (B-) Some brilliance mixed with a few down periods. About what you’d expect from a sophomore, but tantalizing ceiling makes the lows stand out more.
Quote:
DeMar DeRozan

GRADE: B+ (Expected grade C+) Keeps getting better offensively. Consistently scoring 18-20 points a night, passing better than ever. Next step is becoming a finisher and improving defensively.
Quote:
Dwane Casey

B+ (C+) Early wobbles prevent an A grade, but Casey and his staff have done a terrific job so far. The youngsters are developing and team is exceeding expectations. Has earned an extension.

Masai Ujiri

B (C) Did well in the Gay trade, picking up a future piece in Patterson and four steady veterans to right the ship, along with ample cap flexibility. Still much work to be done.

Incomplete:

Dwight Buycks; Julyan Stone; Austin Daye. Haven’t played enough to be evaluated properly.
