Sure, but if we keep this core we're putting all our faith in that internal growth and limiting ourselves in terms of roster moves we can make to improve the roster externally.

Are you not happy with the "internal growth" that you've seen from this team over the last few weeks? Is there something else that you're waiting for?

We are not limiting ourselves at all. Masai is not going to either. Sure he will be limited in what he can do, but who won't. The idea that he should try to be limitless in what he can do is ridiculous. This again, is why he needs to not pretend to be capable of strictly engineering a championship. It just doesn't happen that way. He needs to have a plan with multiple options and multiple means. He's already done an amazing job of removing obstacles. I feel pretty good about his ability to capitalize on any openings and opportunities to carry out his vision for the team going forward, within an organization that does not appear to be limiting any of that in any way. This turning positives into poison is fun for a while, but it's extremely boring at this point.

I enjoy watching these guys play, but do you think that it will last? Even if you make the assumption that we keep Lowry all season, we will inevitably calm down.

And to LX, Masai will be limiting himself if he keeps Lowry, resigns him, resigns Patterson, or any of the other expiring players on our team. He will be putting the team above the cap and while it might be worth it for this season, any other year in the East this team would not be performing as well.

I would love the team to keep Patterson.....would be a mistake to let him go imo. I agree though, the team will calm down at some point and Lowry should still be traded; with his all-star level play, MU should be able to <knock on wood> net a good return but it's going to be tricky as Lowry is really calling the shot on the type of value the Raps will get in return (if he's going to be a rental or agrees to resign).

Do you see any reason why it wouldn't last? Esp. if Lowry remains for the rest of the season? Particularly with our schedule getting much more favourable from this point on? How many more games does this team have to win for you to buy in? Or is it simply the fact that you want that high pick so bad that you'll NEVER enjoy what's presently going on?

Agreed. Only thing that worries me a bit about the return on Lowry is that the market for him may be shrinking a bit. Marshall now in L.A..... Andre Miller on the block in DEN....

Exactly. I believe we could've witnessed an extended period of performances like that last season if we kept faith in the group with Ed, and got rid of the cancer that was AB.
I've been saying it for 2 yrs now. We need a run when everyone's just playing hard, regardless of their limitations, to prove that it can be successful.

I think the return for Lowry isn't much at all. He is basically a rental for the rest of the season. I don't see teams giving us much tbh.

Let's say we maintain 3rd in the east as the one of the only 3 teams over .500 in the east, what do we accomplish in the playoffs? We might get past the first round just to get beat in the second round against the Pacers or Heat.

Lowry then leaves and we're stuck with a lower pick and without our best player that led us to this 3rd seed. What now?

Don't you see the bigger picture?

I guess Miami should unload Wade Bosh and Lebron since they only have player options just to be safe. What if they leave?! You know... big picture and all.

If you're waiting for a team that's absolutely risk-free then you're going to be waiting a LONG time. A trip to the 2nd round would be a MONUMENTAL success for this team. Even if it resulted in a sweep at the hands of MIA or IND.

Lowry is a good player... but he's not irreplaceable.... and we don't know what options will be out there in the summer for Masai to pursue.

Yup - I don't know why people are trying to frame Lowry as being irreplaceable. It's the most competitive position in the league and Lowry cannot carry a team offensively if they need him too, he's a tier 2 pg.

imo if we would trade Lowry now, we can forget the 3rd seed. Vasquez as a starter would get ugly very fast. I think Masai knows that, so I doubt he will trade him.

Again, you're going to the extremities of my side. No one asked for risk free, but I want us to be in the best position to make it the furthest. This year is fool's gold with everybody tanking.

Lowry is pretty fucking good right now, and I really doubt we can get anybody better via FA. Funny thing is how everyone bashed how BC let Bosh walk in FA, but you're willing to have Lowry go through the same risk.
