if i'm BC, as well know i'm not, i wish they do well, even 9th, just get the best effort from the player, and we will be fine.

about the draft, i really think teams will be willing to trade at the trade deadline or draft night, because we have some asset who can be more interresting than a draft pick.

if bc can manage to get a draft pick a 8-10 by trade before the draft, that would be great, even with us not in the lottery.

about winning or tanking, i will say, win as many as you can guys ! that would change a bit for our youngs, and brign some confidence in the road.
we are 2-2 on the road, and 1-1 at home.
i say if we can manage to be a 0.5 team and make the D, hustle and energy our trademark, that would be awsome forward.

Not so much win deliberately or lose deliberatley. None of us control that.

But recognize what you are passing up.

In this league, you usually need that super stud to go up to that next level. With the coaching, the way guys are playing, 2 top 5 picks in 2 years and money to spend, I'd go out on a limb and say done right you will be one of the top 5 teams in the league for years......a championship level team like Chicago and OKC. It is also a different thing to tell a free agent that they will be playing with Derrick rose, than D.J. Augustin. (same draft)

i imagine most would say tank for the #1 pick, but i think the way BC has set up the team he's made it flexible that if we tank we will get a good pick and if we win we have money for FAs
obviously there's better hope for us in the draft as FAs never come to toronto
I'd rather not tank as this wouldn't say much about our players if they went along with a plan like that and this only puts a mentality into our players that if we lose its ok because there's the next season and a good player coming in the draft

win, creates an atmosphere, and in regards to the draft there is still alot of very solid players available anywhere between 8 and 16. many pgs in that range as well, teague, kabongo, etc. and some sfs could be available in the higher end of that range as well.

And as others mentioned bringing over val as well as capspace to sign a player at the sf or pg depending on draft.

like some of the sf's that might be able to be had in the next freeagency myself.
Fields, Gallinari, Batum, Rush, Fernandez...

Yep - you got it snooch. That's what I mean about BC just needing to work harder.

But there is still something in me that feels like we could really get jinxed again. Imagine if NY continues to stink, Boston crashes after too much wear and tear, and we manage to sneak in at the top of the Atlantic. As cool as that would be, it would really feel like a wasted chance to gain long term success through a deep draft.

yup, but the chances of that happening are slim.

And we do have a few assets that could improve or draft position if that is the direction team deems necessary.

For example if Bargs continues his current pace all season, or at least something close to, I could absolutely see Ed being dealt for something.......especially with JV coming over BC may feel that his impact combined with Bargs would be better served with moving him for another piece.

I could absolutely see anyone being moved this season. This will be one of the few trade deadlines that I'll feel a big sense of anticipation. If we're building, then we had better build.

And yeah it's unlikely - that's what would make it a jinx.

whatup guys

before last year's draft we had major holes at 3, potentially 4, positions and besides tanking and building through the draft i didn't think there was any other way for this team in this market to fill those gaps. i was mentally prepared for the losing. even before this season, the thought of rolling out Val and another top-5 rookie in 12-13 was just so exciting for me.

but for me there's something really gratifying about how this team has started off the season. maybe it's because for the first time in 4-5 years I feel like I'm actually seeing some semblance of growth and change. i don't feel disgusted with the way this Raptors team loses, which is a nice change. more than anything there's just a sense of urgency i haven't seen in a long time. i guess in the past i've expected a couple top-5 rookies to induce the change i've been looking for when our players had the potential for it all along.

it's only 6 games and this could all be premature but right now i'm just enjoying watching this team every night, and I'm happy to let the chips fall where they may.

in terms of trade assets i think we're in a great spot too. if andrea can keep playing like this, one of ed or amir is easily expendable.

Default Lets get Michael Gilchrist

He is skilled and has a great work ethic and is also a great teammate. He has just as good a work ethic as derozan.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is No. 1 Kentucky’s leader on and off the floor, averaging a team-high 14.2 points per game as well as spearheading a breakfast club where he gets teammates to come in early to shoot, lift weights, and workout.

Kidd-Gilchrist’s extra efforts have not gone unnoticed by NBA executives.

"He's a winner," one GM said. "He always has been. He cares about the game. Every game. He loves to play, and it's infectious. The NBA desperately needs guys like this. My team needs them. He makes everyone better."

Tank. I think that is the only shot we have of becoming a consistent contender. We aren't likely got to have anything to trade for a top first rounder and no really high end FA wasn't to come here.

When it comes time to complain about why nobody comes here, everyone says "win, then guys will feel better about coming"

Then when we win, dudes are all "tank, what the fuck are they doing..TANK!!!"

Honestly guys.

Does rational thought EVER creep in?

Gallinari, I love it. Italian connection, baby!

Then we all pack into a mini-van and kidnap David Kahn's family until he agrees to trade us Ricky Rubio.

Rubio
DeRozan
Gallinari
Bargs
Valanciunas

Set for life!

heehee

I thought last year was tank year, this year was tryout year.... thats all.

this team makes the playoffs and I can tell you this much, as young as they are, it won't be like you have to over pay by 3 mil a year to sign that SF we need
