don't make this argument. He was fine in Denver where it's clearly not all o and no d. On the trailblazers basically everyone is averaging lower than what they had averaged in previous seasons other than Aldridge. You have 7 capable starters so how are you going to distribute the touches?

But it is. Look at the difference between last year when we had Triano and now that we have Casey. Triano never held players accountable and didn't hold any players to a standard of playing defense. Dantoni is a rich mans version of that type of ball. Inflated stats, take as many shots as you want without expending any energy on defense.

And you know that he's a massive upgrade over JJ? How? "Massive upgrade" would be an all-star talent at the 3-spot. All due respect to Chandler, but I don't think he's that. I remember Chandler very well in NYK. He was definitely solid on both ends... but the concerns that Mike raised above are certainly valid. And I'm not convinced that he'd be as much of an upgrade as you'd suggest based on what I believe JJ is capable of (and what he's currently showing).

We'll see what happens.
It's nothing at all like Hedo. He's not a career 6th man, getting long in the tooth looking to cash in on a good playoff run.

I like James Johnson, but he is a starter by default because he plays on a horrible team that is weak at his position. A massive upgrade would be a more talented guy, who is the same age, that can come in right away and do the same things on the defensive end and do all of the things on O that JJ hasn't shown he's capable of doing on a consistent basis.

I wouldn't call Triano a poor mans D'antoni. I'd call Triano a poor mans coach

25.3 MPG, actually, with slightly better stats.

Don't know where he's getting this, but this is from a poster on a Denver board.

Quote:
Story today is Denver is not going to offer a deal for the remainder of the year. Long term or nothing.
Now Chandler is checking out Toronto, but his agent said that now he's considering sitting the rest of the year out and wait til the offseason

Chandler on this team makes us a little deeper, but not substantially better. His stats in Denver weren't any better than JJ's this year.

Cause if he can't sign elsewhere by March he can only play for Denver this year, and they don't want him to become an UFA and lose him for nothing so they're playing hardball to get him to sign longterm.

Mostly because it is illegal. The maximum year over year raise we can offer is 4.5%. So, starting at 4.3 million first year, the total we could offer is 18.4M over 4 years. No way Denver doesn't match that.

The players themselves are nothing at all alike. The situation (a FA who's played decently and is presumably looking for a larger than average payday from us) isn't as different as you might think.

*shrug*

JJ's bigger and stronger than Chandler is... and I do think he'll surpass Wilson defensively if he hasn't already. His instincts are excellent on that end for a young player. he just needs a bit more experience.

I also like the fact that JJ isn't the kind of player that you have to run plays for. He'll fill the stat sheet regardless of the number of shots he gets. And he brings a certain amount of toughness to the squad.

Again... depends on what kind of contract we're talking about for Chandler... and if we're going to deal Kleiza.

We'll see.

easy solution is to play Chandler and JJ together on the court.

one of the 2 have got to be able to play sg.

Bargnani is a scorer. JV could bring you at least 10 PPG off of put-backs and pick-and-rolls even in his first year. Calderon will score (or his replacement that's supposed to be better). I'd rather further develop DD or look to replace him with a better shooting guard, considering that JJ is a better defender than Chandler and is capable of playing PF as well.

i thought Chandler were playing SG back in NY,isn't it?

he can play SG/SF and that's what BC looking for...and i agree Kleiza need to go if this indeed a S&T

Hey if we don't have to pay DD his $10M/yr I'd happily give it to Chandler to play the 2 (if he has some sort of handles).

The thing that pisses me off is that Kleiza was actually playing quite well for the past 6 or 7 games before he got injured again. Dude was rebounding, taking charges, hitting shots. If he could have stayed healthy the team could at least get some value for him. If you bring in Chandler, and decide to keep JJ, is BC going to amnesty this guy? What a waste.
