Awesome generation of PGs, yeah, there are some great ones currently, but there are also some who can't distribute to save their life, aka Jennings.

could be one, IF JV is as good as some think he is, or if we get lucky in the upcoming draft, or if Andrea improves his defense to the point of being a top 10-15 player in the league.

It better be too, because this summer is our last chance to land that special guy, whatever we do, we'll be much improved for next year and, save for some big time luck, we'll be drafting late. This summer will define our team for the next 5-6 years.

Would I mind us drafting a franchise-caliber player this summer? Of course not - hence inquiries about Davis possibly playing SF.

I am just worried about what happens if we luck out again.

I keep thinking about those 3 assholes down in Miami and what would it take to beat them...

Remember all the Trevor Ariza hype? If Chandler could be gotten for a 7M per contract, that is probably a good deal. Anything more is overpaying.

yep! It'll heat up this summer. My guess is we'll offer him a contract.

not really, chandler plays bigger and is much better offensively
ariza is limited on offense, while chandler can create his own shot
and while ariza is a better individual defender on the perimeter, chandler is a better shot blocker.

I think chandler deserves more money than ariza, but then again, most think ariza was overpaid because of that nice playoff run.

Ariza was overpaid because the free agent market does that. Ariza is a good facilitator and when not asked to do too much offensively, can be pretty efficient with his scoring. And he's more proven than Chandler.

I think Chandler is being made out to be more than he is..... I'm obviously in the minority on this forum though.

Ariza is def overrated. He is an okay role player as shown in LA, but def not a player that can take the next step.

Chandler is good.....

I agree, WC is a good player, but he is not a savior of Toronto in any way. Im still trying to decide do I even want him here

his signing was never intended for him to be the savior of Toronto wtf lol. He's a real good player that is exactly what we need in order to make the next step.

Nobodies saying he'll be a savior. But he would be a good acquisition.

If Chandler came here, you could very well be saying the same about him in two years.

can't recall a time in his career when ariza was "efficient" with his scoring, he's a 43% career shooter and probably around 40% when not playing alongside kobe ... he's an ok 3pt shooter when wide open in the corner, nothing remarkable, but passable. Ever since he left LA, he developed a well-earned reputation for being a chucker, although some it might have been eagerness to prove his contract.

And besides the fact he had a longer career, not sure what makes him so "proven" compared to chandler. He's more of a known quantity, maybe that's what you mean. But frankly, chandler's worst case scenario is a trevor ariza type of career. His upper end is higher.

Like I said, I'd still prefer if we can get him for about 7/yr, but paying him 8 would not be terrible and even going all the way to 9 could prove acceptable if he keeps improving. He's a legitimate two-way player and players of that type are fairly rare and command good salaries (check deng, igoudala, wallace , josh smith etc). I think chandler can definitely fit in that group with his skillset.

you're kidding lol. I've already seen more from Chandler on DEN than I've seen from Ariza on NOR.

Ariza can't even create a shot for himself.

I'm not kidding. Chandler being compared to iggy, josh smith, gerald wallace, deng..... I just don't see it. Those guys are legitimate frontline talents. As far as Ariza, I can absolutely see Chandler's career taking a similar trajectory.
