out of that group granger is the only "chucker"

Management is doing a great job in trying to make us first rounder fodder. Don't use the capspace unless you have an oppurtunity to sign a perennial all star/superstar type talent.

True. I like this team to tank but if its a chance to obtain a good rotational player to a decent contract I don't see why not. Also, this draft is deep its not top heavy so its not like the raps need to finish last and get the next superstar. He isn't in this draft.

Ray Allen did once say he wanted to play here. It's not Milwaukee, it's a pretty big city with lots of stuff to do.

You need management that actually knows a thing or two about winning before anyone steps foot here.

To all who advocate getting Chandler for $8 mil/year - read this: Statophile 27 | Is Wilson the One? | Raptors Republic | ESPN TrueHoop's Toronto Raptors Blog

Still want him?

I have no problem as long as it's part of an overall blueprint. If I'm expected to think his addition alone is going to get the team somewhere, or that just pursuing him proves something, then blah on the whole enterprise. My hopes are that it would be part of a pretty big overhaul with many moves yet to be made.

Well, you do realize that cap and tax thresholds represent finite amounts of money, right? As such, any move is necessarily a part of a larger blueprint, if nothing else because every dollar spent somewhere limits your ability to spend it elsewhere, effectively.

Chandler, in all likelihood, is not worth 8 mil/season to begin with, not under the new CBA. For Raptors specifically, with Kleiza and JJ both under very reasonable and affordable contracts, with holes in the backcourt and with a good chance of drafting another three-man with a high lottery pick, I'd consider such signing harmful to the "overall blueprint" precisely because it impedes the team's ability to do "a pretty big overhaul with many moves yet to be made".

numbers show him to be better than Demar.

So he's an upgrade.

especially defensively.

and add to it that it wouldnt be the only move made....

New PG
Chandler
JJ
Bargs
JV

Looking much better already.

1. How can you go by his numbers as a SF and project that he is going to be better than DD @ SG? Those positions are quite different. Not that I am particularly happy with DeRozan, but such logic is simply incorrect, IMHO.

2. Where and how did you get a new PG?

3. And finally - how is that lineup better, aside from JV @ centre which won't happen right away?

This is why I think that IF we end up with Chandler we should really look into seeing if we can flip Jose & our pick for someone like Rondo. At least then you're addressing another position of need.

Jose+pick for Rondo could be explored quite separately from spending money on Chandler that could be spent elsewhere.

Once again, JJ and Kleiza are set to make 7.4 mil next season combined! Why would you want to spend 8-10 mil on Chandler?

there isnt that big of a difference between the 2 spots honestly. And Chandlers best numbers came from him playing the sg spot in NYK.

2. easily find another pg, tony wroten with a later pick in the draft is gonna be a steal, and after that we have demar, ed or amir and a high lotto pick to use as bait(not to mention a deal involving jose on the side)

3. lineup is better because chandler is better than demar. simple.
