Will Reggie Evans be our Saviour, or a Bust?

we've played 16 games this season and we're sitting at 7-9.
all year long we've been out-worked, out-muscled, out-rebounded, and generally out-hearted (not a word? so what).

Sitting on the bench wearing a walking boot is Reggie Evans, who - by most accounts - will be back in action in 2-3 weeks.
While not known for his offensive gifts, Reggie excels at most (if not all) of the attributes mentioned above.
Now the question is, when Reggie comes back, will he provide that heart, muscle, and rebounding that we're sorely missing? or will he just end up bing the 10th guy off the bench who wont contribute a damn thing?

discuss.

Neither. He's a rollplayer, one who's impact won't be felt as much with Amir playing as well as he has.

He was supposed to be 2-3 weeks away, 2-3 weeks ago.

I'm not confident we'll see him before the allstar break.

He is lazy I'm convinced of it. Dude ain't even a dedicated NBA player. He also is a role player so basically he'll just add depth to the team.

He won't even contribute a win to this team he doesn't come as advertised. The best thing about him is he gave Belli a spot in the rotation

Hahhhh Gave Beli a spot in the rotation? Belinelli is ahead of him in the rotation wether he's hurt or not.

Well the trade for Kaps basically opened up a wing spot which is given to belli

Kapono wasn't gonna be here one way or another. And even if he was, he'd be behind Belinelli on the depth chart.

Amir has been playing with as much (if not more) energy as I expected from Reggie.

What Reggie CAN bring though is that "mess with me and I'll kill you" toughness that Amir is too slight and young to really convey.

its not that far fetched.
we need rebounding.
we need toughness.
we need muscle.
we need someone who will bang and wont back down.

Reggie?
check, check, check, and check.

if he can get 15 minutes a night and provide those intangibles, then it can help us win... which in a way will help save this season and turn it around. and that is the definition of saviour, IMO.
can he do it? thats the question.

You wouldn't conjest your wings so frantically. At least I would hope BC wouldn't that woudl be bad management. However; I believe Belli is more effective on the bench that Kapono ever was and there Kaps would not even be needed even if he was on this team. Without Kaps this game Belli more of a chance and in turn added dept for the post players in Evans.

I'm just saying Evans move here benefited the team more cause of the trade to free up Belli than anything else. Now Evans should be fighting for minutes with Amir which should be interesting be it Triano hasn't made a Rotation stance yet this year for this roster.

He's not a make or break guy, but we definitley could use an intimidator in the lane and a wide body that can clear some space in the paint.

He's the only guy on the roster who has demonstrated the will to knock guys around and commit hard fouls. The kind of fouls that make opposing players think twice about attacking the basket the way they have against this team.
Is he the "saviour" or the ultimate answer to what ails the team? Not necessarily, but he provides exactly what the team needs most: balls. And if his aren't big enough all by themselves he'll just grab a few extras from the other team.

Rebounding, in my mind, has never felt like a problem this year.
And when it has been a problem (losing key possessions) - I kinda doubt he would be on the floor.

I do appreciate the way he gets into games though. He certainly has a way of transferring his energy to his teammates...but he has shown he can do that from the sidelines, anyway.

In conclusion: meh.

- Didn't he constantly get in foul trouble during the preseason?

I was thinking about this the other night.

While he's not "the saviour", I do think he is a big part of the solution. Raps have been getting killed inside, and he's a big presence on the inside, and isn't afraid to throw a few people around. There had been numerous times where opposing players get uncontested walks through the lane, and/or uncontested dunks. Reggie would not settle for this.

Also, if you remember some of the reports from training camp, his efforts, and aggressiveness were being applauded, many said that he was making "Andrea tougher". Bargs hasn't looked very tough lately, and I wonder if that would change if everybody had to go up against him each and every day in practice.

I said neither.

But only because as much as I think he is really needed, he certainly isn't a savior.

Tim Duncan would be a savior.

Pape Sow would be a bust.
