Will Demar make the Allstar Team this year?

The title says it all. I think he deserves it and will make it if we maintain our play by the all star break. That being said, I feel like he's going to be forgotten come voting time by the coaches and is a prime candidate to get snubbed.

Nope.

Afflalo, Irving, Wade, Wall, Teague

Nites 01-01-2014 09:59 PM

He's too far behind to make it as a starter. Maybe as a reserve?

1. Dwyane Wade (MIA) 565,455
2. Kyrie Irving (CLE) 524,000
3. Derrick Rose (CHI) 299,950
4. John Wall (WAS) 210,988
5. Ray Allen (MIA) 143,714
6. Rajon Rondo (BOS) 111,335
7. Deron Williams (BKN) 74,047
8. George Hill (IND) 66,030
9. Lance Stephenson (IND) 50,44
10. DeMar DeRozan (TOR) 48,744

He'll never get in with voting, but maybe as a coaches decision. That said, don't see it happening at all.

If the Raps are in the playoff picture and above .500 around decision time he has a fair chance of making it. These coaches seem to value team record and performance when selecting reserves so in that event he could get the nod before Afflalo.

If we keep winning and stay at the top of the conference I would like to think the coaches would pick him. As much as I like Afflalo, DD should get the nod ahead of him based on not only his own performance, (yes I know both are almost even) but because he is one of the reasons why we are now playing .500 ball compared to Afflalo's magic who are in the basement of the Eastern Conference.

Afflalo is a shoe in unless he gets hurt or his game completely falls apart. He's the most efficient SG in the NBA this season.

48FG%/43 3PT%/85FT%

^ Damn impressive for a player taking 16 shots per game. I don't care what his team's record is

That is pretty damn efficient.....

Since they're both listed as guards, I'd hope Lowry gets consideration over DD in the event of a rap being picked as an all star. Lowry has been much more important for this squad.

And his TS% is .601 and his EFG% is .551.

if raptors have the 3rd seed, one of the raptors will be an all star. 3rd seed is no joke even in this time

I don't know who I'd say is more important of the two, but Demar has played at a high level the entire season while Lowery is only starting to play well since the Rudy trade.

The All-Star game, to me, proves very little.
I mean, Rose gets voted in whether he plays or not.

Doesn't mean shit.

We'll be watching Chris Paul in the All-Star games until he's a corpse (whether he wins anything or not). The NBA is so obnoxious.

Lowry has been our most consistent player this season imo. He's been better the last 3 weeks but, he's been consistent the whole season.

Hollinger's NBA Player Stats - ESPN Insider - National Basketball Association - ESPN

PGs sorted by EWA. Not sure Lowry doesnt go first. But they probabaly just pick by PPG somewhat... and DD wins that at least.

Chiggmo 01-01-2014 10:20 PM

He only will due to all the injuries this year

I will admit those stats are really impressive. I for one would like to see Afflalo make it and yes he probably deserves it over DD, but in the end most times coaches pick players on teams with the top records in the league. For us, we're top 4 in the conference so at least 1 person must make it. It should either be Lowry or DD for the Raps. If a major guard gets injured we might even get 2 All-Stars this year. Plus, if they still had the All-Star selections as 2 guards, 2 forwards and 1 center then JV could have possibly gotten the nod. It would have been between him, Hibbert, Noah and possibly Jefferson even though he has been injured a few games.

jj33 01-01-2014 10:25 PM

Lowry should make it! Who is your PG in the east?? Irving??? his team is bad. Wall?? probably gonna make it, but Lowry should be there, just keep winning.

I agree with you man. The Irving situation is no different than Afflalo's. Both are putting up great stats, but there teams are bad. Only difference is the fans are going to vote in Irving. There's nothing you can do to change that, unless he gets injured.

If Washington are 3rd to 6th in the East then Wall will probably make it.
