Default Why not start Jarret

During yesterdays game in the third quarter I noticed that Nash was constantly trying to break Jose down off the dribble and many times he got beaten. Help defenders came very quick and when that happened nash passed the ball to his teammates who got easy looks. Soon as Jack subbed in Nash barely attacked him at all and didnt really break him down much. It was during this period of time raps were getting many stops and went on a run.

I am thinking that opposing teams now make it a part of their gameplan to get their starting point guards to attack jose Calderon off the dribble on a regular basis and drive and kick for easy baskets.

In my opinion I think raps would be better off starting Jack and have Jose coming off the bench because it hides calderons defensive issues. I know Jack is not good as Calderon offensively and sometimes makes boneheaded plays but wouldnt you sacrifice a few more points for more defensive stops. The two can still have an equal distribution of minutes. Jose might also find his rhythm off the bench.

at this time, they are still trying to wrangle out the defense. Starting Jack is not the answer....yet. Maybe in the 2nd quarter and beyond you burn Jack on opposing guards that are lighting up Jose. Give it to about game 40-50. If he continues to no show on defense then you bench his @$$ or try to move him. Until then, the team has to figure out how to play defense with him in the lineup.

Jose couldn't guard Nash.....

98% of the PG's in the league can't guard Nash....I think every other team should start their second stringer against Nash.

The problem was Jose couldn't score on Nash, which 98% of the pgs in the league can do.

Nash is tough.

Thing I cant figure out..... All these guys that Jose doesn't shut down.... I have yet to see any of them shut him down.

PG's are impossible to shut down.

Calderon had 2 points last game in 32 minutes, 1-7 shooting.

That wasn't cause of Stevie's defense, or even the Suns defense, Jose started settling. He's been doing that more often lately, makes me wonder if his hammy is flaring up again.

Jose is way to passive on offense which is his strength. If I was Jay I would tell Jose if you don't score at least 10 ppg than you are not doing your job. That will force him to be more aggressive on offense because obviously just telling him to be more aggressive is not working.

If joses offense was really good this season then I wouldnt care about his defense but when his offense is just as bad as his on ball defense for the season then you would have to consider all options. Jack has struggled sometimes during the season but the last couple of games he really stepped up his game. The team picks up more defensive stops when hes playing at the point and when joses on the bench so why not consider it. It's not like Calderon is doing a much better job offensively, in fact he played worse than Jack in the last two games. Plus playing Calderon on the bench would give him much more of a role on the offensive end. Plus jarret jack has starting experience. Why not do it for couple of games too see if things get better.

i for one do think jack should start but keep the minutes similar. I want jack on the court with hedo/andrea as much as possible, 2 massive defensive liabilites. Calderon will still get his 30 minutes and get to do what he did when ford was here, when he was at his best.

you try hitting a jumpshot with someone claping their hands and smacking their jaw/lips together right in front of you. hmmmmm, that must be why opposing pg's go right past him and lay it in
