Default Why has Jamario Moon plateaued

Yup .... it was only a matter of time before the league knew how to play Jamario.

Obviously this is something the big Suns forward can do almost routinely, but if Moon goes up hard and strong hes got that ball tucked away before anyone else even leaves the ground. Instead he was kind of casual about it and cost his team a basket. A moment later 35-year-old Grant Hill out-ran him down the floor to score to grab a long pass from Nash and then faked Moon off the floor to score a lay-up. In fact every time Moon was anywhere near him he pump-faked and was rewarded when Moon flew past just about every time. Clearly Hill read the scouting report. Then Moon hit one jumper and a moment later sent one off the side of the backboard from the same spot. You can guarantee that every team in the league is building their defence to double off Moon and then rotate back, perfectly willing to risk being beaten by the Raptors least consistent jump shooter. Which is why Mitchell tore into Moon for settling for yet another jumper. With a defender rotating back to him Mitchell wants Moon to go hard at the basket, but right now thats not Moons game. And if hes going to be just average defensively and passive offensively, it will be only a matter of time before Carlos Delfino starts.

i still think he is really good, lets hope he is having one of those rookie bad moments. I like delfino more, but I dont want to see Moon slowly fading to rot in the bench. I would still give him a couple of more games so his confidence doesnt dissapear. And besides, Delfinos last three games were pretty bad too.

i think moon is gassed. the press and the expectations can be overwhelming, not to mention the grind that is the NBA.

Moon had two trick in his sleeve... athletic ability and decent long distance shot... what make him good at the beginning of the season was element of surprise... opponents ignored him and left him way to open... but once they started scouting and taking his space away he showed that he is nothing more then a taller Fred Jones...

He hasn't flat-lined - he forgot what's brought him the initial success. He has to start driving, slashing, back-door-cutting - in other words, getting to the rim any way he can, with or without the ball, on offence and he has to stop trying to block every shot.

Much ado about nothing i think. I haven't seen a noticeable or sustained drop off in defensive intensity... the only thing that's suffered a bit are rebounding numbers and offensive production but he hasn't been getting 40 mpg lately either. Rookies no matter their age will go through cycles... i dont think we panic to be honest.
