Question Why didn't Hedo take #15?

I mean, the history of that number with the Raps is far from perfect, what with Vince's walk-out and Garbo's blow-out...

Do you think Hedo is superstitious? Or does 26 have some special meaning for him?

I think it's because the franchise plan to retire number 15 for the greatest player ever to put on a raps jersey (Jorge Garbajosa) and it would have been pointless for Hedo to change his number part way through the season.

RealGM ran a thread on the "#26 issue", but most of suggestions were rather silly. I thought maybe someone here actually knew why...

IDK. It's too bad, 'cos 26 is kinda ugly imo.

Yes, it's correct... He joined one sports program in turkey and they asked why he chose #26, he said his daughter born in feb 26th of 2009, and he said she came with luck, he had a successful year, thats why he chose number 26.

Thanks Vellassco.

Seeing how the #15 is cursed here in Toronto, I'm actually glad he chose another number.

Besides, he said he always change his number when he moves to another team, like opening a new page in his life...

26 is the day of his daughter's birthday
but i do also think he knows about the #15 VC thing and how it bugs most of the raptor fans, so maybe he used his daughter's bday as an excuse not to use #15
why use #15 and have people talking negative about you in regards to the previous VC

As long as nobody retires number 6 anytime soon, because the Raptors are saving that number for me

On a more serious note, I'm relieved he didn't pick 15, I'm too superstitious to support that.

Daughter's Birthday... And besides, he was married at age 26... and was looking at an apartment in Toronto on the 26th floor...

However, he'll still wear 15 for Turkey National Team for the upcoming EuroBasket 2009 Tournament. According to FIBA, numbers must be between 4-15 I am told...

Its very interesting, I listened the radio talk that he had and he said that, but I did not pay attention at that time, I guess he is kinda superstitious ha?

He is the team captain of Turkey, he will play in the euro comp this year, and Turkey will hosting the next world champ, so he will be there as a captain too... Bucks forward Ilyasova is also in the team, Okur is not playing as usual...
