that's not really the point. we aren't talking about numbers, we're talking about court vision and the ability to run an offense.

Well I assume the definition of running a team falls under the umbrella of "I know it when I see it" type of subjective analysis. In which case it's unlikely we'll come to any agreement on people who have learned such a skill. (Not a knock on you obviously, the same intangible, untrackable concept is a large part of my distaste for Bayless).

-Rondo
-John Wall
-Steph Curry
-Kyle Lowry
-Ty Lawson
-Devin Harris
-Brandon Jennings
I would have Jeff Teague Behind Rondo then I believe It gets questionable. The ceiling is far higher obviously for those on the list, but as for proven in game play, I think Jose edges out those guys. He doesn't turn the ball over, he makes an effort to get guys 2 through 5 into the offense, he's got a great elbow jumper. He gets alot of assist with out having a consistent finisher. He doesn't have Kevin Love, Derrick Williams, and Beasely for example to close for him on the break or in the half court. But most importantly he is effective with out being ball dominant.

in all honesty I am not a fan, but he has worth and he may in fact be our most valuable player (this season) . And in terms of numerical ranking he is quite a bit higher then most want to admit.

Whoa thank you captain hindsight :P I posted this before he passed away from the season

Also I don't think Bayless ceiling has been reached, hes still young enough. That being said, i've rethought it a little bit and we should probably start searching for a PG in free agency then (if no one believes in bayless or wants to give him a shot)... def not drafting a pg... Kidd-Gilchrist or Barnes unless we can lose a lot more and get a 14 percent shot at Davis or whatever.

"during his recent stretch with Calderon’s injury he’s averaged 21.8 ppg on .543 shooting with 7.6 assists per game and has locked up his man defensively. "

small sample but we've seen that last season too

+100.

Or we could leave an untrackable concept like "running a team" and concentrate on a more trackable skill that I've also mentioned as something people don't seem to learn - rebounding.

Yes, it turns out that to be outstanding at rebounding, the effort is not enough, you also have to have a knack, a skill of anticipation and "being in the right place at the right time" and it's not something that can be taught, apparently, or Rodmans and Loves would have come around more often.

Case in point - Gary Forbes. I am quickly becoming a fan of his partly because he is an outstanding rebounder for his position. Compared to DeRozan, who is roughly the same size and the same build, Forbes is a fiend for loose balls and a constant double-double threat when playing his natural SG position, even in limited minutes. Does anyone think this can be taught? And if so - why so few wing players can do what Forbes seems to be doing quite naturally and easily?

Bayliss is a good player. He is fast, he cant shoot ok, and can do some other things.

but he isn't a good pg.

JB is a much better starter than coming off the bench. 18 ppg, 6.7 apg, 3.6 rpg, 1.0 spg as a starter last year. He did slightly worse or on par as a starter this year (his averages improved). JB will never become a 8 (or more) apg guy. But that doesn't mean he can't start at the 1. It sucks that besides Jose and JB no one can create their own shot or handle the rock, due to that, the raps need an 8+ apg at the one.

Also, Nash would love to play in Canada and Bayless is from Phoenix...
