Why is Bargnani on this team?

Lets be real about this. Why is Bargnani on the team? Hes been shooting 20% for the past 10 games+ and contributes nothing when he doesn't score, or even if he does score he still contributes nothing else. So why is he on the team? We have a great core for the future in Ed Davis and Amir Johnson, they are the future for power forwards and I'd take them any day over Bargnani. So if Bargnani is going to be on this team he will always be the starting center, something he has never molded into after years of being on this team. I don't see Bargnani ever being a defensive/rebounding presence so he must go, we can't have a center like this on the team who chucks shots and contributes nothing when shots don't fall, it'll never work out. Bargnani must go because he has no place in this team, maybe he does in other teams, but this team he does not.

'cus B.Colangelo drafted him.

'trane 02-01-2011 05:33 PM

because he is under contract.

Who cares? Moving forward he has no value to this team.

A month ago people were blowing a load over this guy, and some were proclaiming "where are the haters now?".

Mind you i'm bipolar when it comes to Bargnani. I've said it before and i'll say it again he's one of, if not the most frustrating athlete i've ever watched. And at this point i'm pretty much giving up on him ever becoming what i wish he would be, which would be a rebounding PF that gives an honest effort night in, night out and is more aggressive (not so passive) who wants to improve and take pride on the defensive end. He'll never be those things.

Scully 02-01-2011 05:47 PM

The fact remains that Bc couldn't rub two williams together for this guy.

Sorry, but that's bullshit.

He isn't being utilized properly imo. I blame that on Triano. He is the best offensive player but you can't depend on him only for scoring otherwise he's gonna get fucking lazy and start chucking. He's not a great defender, or rebounder but you can run offense through him. I remember that game against the Knicks a while back where we ran offense through him and he did a great job finding the open man because he draws so much attention (when he's playing good). If he can only get 5 rebounds I'd like to see him get 5 assists and no more than 20 shots, the rest of the team has to be involved. I'd like to see a coaching change before we make any major trades.

Jeff, sarcasm guy. My point being we are not going to get value out of a trade when he is leading us on a 12 +game losing streak.

this is ridiculous....
i can be the first to say that i'm not a fan of triano but don't blame how much bargs sucks on the coach!
isn't utilized properly?! he's the teams number one option.
"utilize" isn't for your go-to guy, its for players like hedo, or role players
ex: you can say oh we didn't utilize hedo properly

"you can't depend on him only for scoring"
what else are can we depend on him for?? scoring is the only thing he doesn't suck at and i would argue even that isn't very dependable...

You're right. Let's waive him.

So it's Triano's fault that Bargs doesn't give 2 shits about anything other than chucking the ball? Do you really think that he's coached to do that?? :confused2:

He's just a lazy player who's getting exposed now that teams actually gameplan for him.

The Knicks game was ONE game... against an awful defensive team. And it sure as hell doesn't make up for the last dozen or so that we've lost.

So because he is the #1 option we should only use him to score? Nothing else? I guess you like how we're playing right now.

At some point the coaches style of play does come into question. Not everything is the players fault. Like keeping players in when they are struggling, not making the right subs, questionable calls at end of games. Players do what the coach tells them to do, and Triano doesn't seem to good at defining roles either.

Yes it was one game, that we played great in, like a team.

edit
thats not what i said and i was replying to what u said about "you can't depend on him only for scoring"
what else are we suppose to depend on him for? if not scoring??
man oh man...
ya, depend on him for defence and rebounding...see where that gets us

Kuzzy 02-01-2011 06:23 PM

Despite his struggles, AB is still the most lethal player on our team. This isn;t something to brag about, but it's true. Also, despite his recent struggles, Bargnani is still worth the coin. Put it this way, Brendan Haywood aka DNP is getting paid even more than Andrea.

I don't think you get what I was saying, I'll blame that on comprehension problems. He can defend (somewhat), and rebound, but he';s one of those guys where you have to stay on there ass all the time before they finally get it, and Triano too soft to do that he can't even clearly define roles.

killabee 02-01-2011 06:32 PM

cause he is the next dirk...

Bargs takes bad shots. He doesn't rebound (even when he's in position to). He shows no intensity at all. He rarely passes.

And this is the coach's fault?

Why was Bosh able to put up career numbers last season playing for the same coach?

ya on your part. what other way is there to interpret " you can't depend on him only for scoring " and that is a direct quote.

what u stated, defence and rebounding, are all effort/instinct. you can't coach that.
as for bargs needs a coach to stay on his ass all the time, thats your opinion but he's in his 5th year dude. thats for like high school kids or college players or someone like a demarcus cousins.... not a 5th year pro and "supposed" leader of this team
