I'm going to exclude Indy/Heat, i would guess we don't want any part of them.

So if we make the playoffs, who do you think we matchup well against?

Damn that's tough. I'd probably say first would be Atlanta. Other than Millsap, we match up pretty well with them.

Second choice would be Washington. Scary young backcourt but ours is better. Their big men are a tad overrated aswell IMO. Very inexperienced so that plays a huge role.

Funny thing is Brooklyn, for the record, won't be as bad as people think if they are just totally banged up going into the playoffs, however they could be the worst opponent for us going into the playoffs at full gear. If D-Will, Lopez and say KG or Pierce don't play, they're definitely beatable IMO

We have a good chance against anyone on that list, but chicago and Brooklyn would be really tough to beat. I think the wiz are the least threatening.

Maybe Detroit but I doubt they'll be in 5th or 6th should they make the playoffs.

I went with atlanta, but it's unlikely they're even making the playoff, they look pretty bad over there.

Yeah, having watched all our games against Chicago this year and last year (and I was at the ACC last week), I can firmly say no team gets better officiating. And by that I don't mean that they get all the superstar calls like LeBron or Kobe or KD might get in any given game or even that they take too many free throws. Rather, it's about what's not called. I've noticed that the officials consistently call very few fouls in games featuring the Bulls (and which happens more and more with Indiana) and this always ends up favouring the Bulls as they are a notoriously physical team. The fact is that since they are allowed to play that way, they are as comfortable with setting hard screens, hacking as players blow by, little pulls/grabs of the jersey, etc. as their opponents are made to be frustrated and taken out of their element because they try not to foul where as the Bulls foul frequently but are not called for it. 'Letting them play' is a trite excuse when you realize that many different refs are calling Bulls games with the mindset that Chicago is elite defensively so they don't commit fouls. They get home court officiating everywhere.

Meanwhile we're fourth(!) in defensive rating in the whole league and still somehow commit the second most fouls, which seems oxymoronic and next to impossible to me. For comparison, here are the other five teams in the top six defenses:

Indiana: 11th fewest fouls
Chicago: 6th fewest fouls
Memphis: 7th fewest fouls
(Toronto: 29th fewest fouls)
Charlotte: 3rd fewest fouls
OKC: 21st fewest fouls

Have you seen the rest of the Eastern Conference :cookie: Trust me they are making the playoffs somewhere around the 6-8 seed.

If the Raps can't figure out a way to get out of their 1st quarter funks then it won't matter who they play in the first round

Atlanta or Charlotte, preferably the Hawks tho. 1 thru 5 Raps have the advantage except at the 4. Bobcats have had Raps number in the regular season but in a best of 7 I think Raps would win.

ATL for me. Shaky bigs outside of Millsap and I think that we can better their guard play.

Personally, I'd love to watch us play Chicago in the first round. I think the intensity of the games would make for some classic playoff basketball and you'd know that every possession down the court would mean something with two defensively minded coaches in Casey and Thibs.

Also, if we're serious about development and growth of key pieces it would be valuable experience for Val, and DeRozan to face that type of defence in the playoffs. On top of that, I think it would easily go the distance.

You could maybe, maybe, say the same about a series against Brooklyn but I'm not as confident in saying that.

So, if we're looking for a series win I'd go against Atlanta.

Best long-term match-up and from a pure entertainment standpoint, I'll go with Chicago.

Chicago with their experience and defense gives them a chance no matter what their roster situation is
Brooklyn has all the big names so even if they're old and slow I don't like our chances when it comes to the refs. Also this is one of those teams that the NBA is trying real hard to be one of their big name teams. I don't like playing against teams with the league backing them
Some reason we suck against Charlotte
Washington has a lot of scorers and their point of attack with Wall can be dangerous for us. If Lowry holds his own against Wall and our bigs can take what I think is a slight advantage then we have a good chance. I only worry about their ability to shoot from distance with beal, ariza, wall. Three balls can blow a game wide open and it only takes 2 or 3 games of that to make a series seem out of reach
Atlanta always plays us tough but I think the matchup is pretty even so I don't mind playing them
Detroit is pretty dysfunctional but they do have the roster of players. I don't mind playing them but their players could change the series
