how can roko dissapoint when he's expected to be the 3rd string point guard .... Dissapointment should be measured against universally held expectations.

You can't just say " I expect Roko to get 15 and 8, and I also expect of him to not deliver that, which makes him the biggest dissapointment in my eyes ... "

There are only two guys that can disappoint me: Chris or Jose. And maybe JO! These are the players that I expect to lead Raptors to the next level. Others are just role players and/or I don't really have high hopes. But I think no one will disappoint in the end, the only pessimistic though is someone will get injured and will send Raptors back to lottery!

I've been thinking long and hard on this one and can't help but feel that this question is quite ridiculous. I mean, if I anticipate someone disappointing me, then he can only disappoint me by performing better than expected, right?

In that sense, since I will be more than happy with them getting out of the first round of playoffs, I hope the entire team disappoints me...

I voted Calderon, because expectations are really way too high.

Roko will likely be like Calderons first season. Silly to expect more.
Oh and as for Joey, he'll be great in those 5 garbage minustes per game.

You're post doesn't even make sense, but anyway...

By all accounts he's supposed to be the 2nd string guard.

There's already been about about a dozen articles in various media outlets and about 10 threads here licking his nuts before he's even suited up for an NBA game...

That's the same thing I think Roko will have the same type of first year as Calderon did. When his second year is done we can actually tell if he is a dissapointment or not

of course it makese sense - dissapointment can only be measured against expectations that are generally held. Since very little is expected of Roko Ukic (he was pegged as our backup point guard before solomon arrived - after that most see it as an even battle between the two for that position), how can it be your biggest dissapointment?

Which makes me think that people who voted for ukic actually have over-inflated expectations (call them hopes), and at the same time they don't expect ukic to rise to them ... Which I agree, doesn't really make sense. But it's the only explanation I can think of. Because otherwise, if roko is expected to have a 8ppg and 4apg with poor shooting performance, how do you define "big dissapointment", 3 points and 1 assist???

On the other hand, players like Bosh and Calderon (and to a lesser extent O'Neal) are expected to have career bests in most areas, and to lead the team to at least the second round. So the bar is raised quite high, therefore there's plenty of room for dissapointment.

As for AP, I think most expect of him to have a slighly worse year since he's older- which he will probably have. He's too crafty and steady, and not nearly old enough, to have a major drop-off.

Bargnani and Moon are also good candidates for dissapointment, because again, there are great expectations in many circles. However, I don't think they will dissapoint, and instead they will exceed expectations. But I could see them getting votes from those who don't believe in them.

Roko is still pegged to be the back-up. Solomon is insurance.

I thknk you missed the point. The people who voted for Ukic are the people who are realistic about his fortunes this season. Expectations are high and the vast majority here think he's going to step right in and contribute, maybe play some off-guard, blah, blah, blah...and so therefore, the vast majority will be disappointed if and when he sucks.

Moon.

I expect him to have worked on his game. I expect that he'll be able to knock down the mid to long range jumper on a consistent basis so the other team will have to actually guard him. I expect him to take the ball to the hoop with authority.

I expect to be dissappointed?

maybe I am - personally I don't hold high hopes for ukic and I'm not sure why anybody would . It's not like he rocked the european leagues or anything.

That being said - as long as he has his head on his shoulders and plays under control, he should be able to give us 10 minutes per game - at the very least he should be more competent than Derrick Martin.
