Default Who will be the next franchise player?

Jose or Bargs?

Let's say Bosh comes to his senses and decides to walk in 2010. Who is our franchise guy? Who is the guy that gets the ball in the clutch. The guy who when you say The Raptors, his name instantly comes to mind. The guy on all the posters and commercials and advrtisements.

Who is that guy, Jose or Bargnani?

Jose is always "injured". So probably Bargs will be our franchise player.

Neither. Jose is a 4th option type, very good role player, and Bargs is a 3rd option at best. There would be no franchise guy. Unless you just wanted to designate a franchise guy, then itd be Bargs, and then we can all turn on him and make him leave in 3 years@!

if we're going to designate anyone as our franchise player, i hope we decide to build around him instead of getting players of the same position and trying to convert them into different positions that'll cause match-up problems offensively while completely neglecting what will happen defensively.....deep breath

how to build a winner

C- PF
PF-PF
SF-hybrid PF
SG-SF
PG-zoolander

back-up
C-PF
PF-PF
SF-undersized PF
SG- 3pt specialist who can't dribble
PG-learning the basics of shooting

sad, isn't it.

now add a gimmick coach and a gm who thinks the best defense is a great offense and we have ourselves something that looks like a piece of poop.

imagine how bad your team would have to be if Jose Calderon was your "franchise" lol that's scary.

cmon man, we re not that bad
i know no one wants to see Bargs take 30 j's a game, but if he did, he would be a durant type player, 25 ppg, and we lose plenty of games. plenty aplently
oh, and durant is franchise-y?

I'd be just fine if we didn't have a "franchise" player at all. We need to focus on building a great "team" of good players who know their roles. Look at the Pistons for past few years.

And Chris Bosh isn't a franchise player. He's very good player but does not fit, in my mind, the definition of a franchise player.

I could deal with never hearing the term again, let alone try to surmise who needs to get the tag two years from now.

I'd say the Raptors should sign the ultimate back court tandem of Fred Jones and Hassan Adams and build around that.

in a few years, you will shake your head hard for even thinking about questioning whether or not durant would be a superstar.
