Who wants to buy some hope?

It's time to start selling hope.....21 wins last year would have been 3rd worst, bringing in a 3rd pick. In only 6 months, they can be pushing hope, of a high pick to fill a specific need....not a project, but a player. One more important piece to the young core. For my money, it is this man....

Some may call him another Chris Paul...maybe a bit much, but anything even close and this team is instantly better.

Kyrie Irving | NBADraft.net

Kyrie Irving Mix @ 2010 Nike Hoop Summit - BALL IS LIFE

Slamonline:
3) Kyrie Irving — Duke — Freshman — PG/SG
A one-and-done Duke player on Coach K’s watch?! What in the name of Luol Deng is going on?! Kyrie Irving is a crazy athletic, blazing fast combo guard with mad handle who isn’t expected to stay in Durham for very long. He can knock down outside jumpers and use his dribbling skills to beat his man to the hole. And the already fundamentally sound jersey native will only improve in that area playing at Duke.

DraftExpress:
3. Irving has a great body and good size at 6-2. Offensively, he's as skilled and versatile as you can expect from a player his age. He's a very good athlete who can get to the basket in a variety of ways and is particularly effective in the pick-and-roll.

Irving has a nice stroke from the perimeter and made a number of shots from outside (both with his feet set and off the dribble) over the course of the week. Perhaps most impressive is the way he competes on the defensive end, though. He takes great pride in his work on this end of the floor, showing great fundamentals, a high effort level and terrific smarts. He gets right up in his man's grill and locks him down. Even when his team was up by a huge margin, he was still out there getting after it on every possession—he even attempted to take charges.

The other hope is for Colangelo to flip the expirings and/or Jose and/or the TPE for a capable, not over the hill centre.

Put the 2 together and I think this team is back in the playoffs with a young, up and coming team.

Who wants some? Step right up and buy some hope!

That's pretty much what I'm looking for. They need an injection of talent in the worst way. If they manage to overachieve, I don't know if I'll be all that happy. Hopefully they can have some good stretches, and build a bit of a culture, but still lose a bunch.

My thoughts... We're better off losing and acquiring picks than hoping for trades.

Colangelo must know it but there is no way he can say it publicly.

They must do whatever they can not to let this one slip away. He could be the next 10 year Phoenix Sun-esque gravy train.

6 months, then start dreaming.

I'm a fan of the game, I do agree with everybody about looking for the future but I cant cheer for my favorite team to lose, I want them to win.
My thinking is if we do good but not make the playoffs, we can use the expiring contracts and TPE and get a good player to make this team better.

Maybe just maybe, someone like chris paul or marc gasol thinks they can make this team better and come here...you never know.

In the end my opinion is why build through draft all most all the good players we draft, just use us to become better players and then leave. What's the point in wasting time? Wouldn't you rather have an experienced player come to Toronto, granted historically we have seen that no "all-star" wants to come here, but I think that's changing...players are starting to like Toronto.

Just my 2 cents.

I love Harrison Barnes' game, but the Raps do need a young PG. And Irving is the best choice.

And I won't buy some hope, but can I borrow a feelin'?

Just one guy's respectful opinion, but I honestly don't think you have any choice. So there may as well be an unconscious, uncontrlollable hard defending red and black streak at the end of the pain.

I say go ahead and lose 60 games by 1 point and take away all kinds of moral victories. The reason why guys leave is they do not taste enough success for the span of time they are here. No one is a sure thing, but there are too few of these kinds of PGs that change everything. He may be the guy that guys who have left town would have wanted to play with. Getting right back on the 6th to 10th place in the conference merry-go-round is the best way to lose some future stars.

I saw pick up Harrison Barnes and pick up a point guard with the Raptors second first round pick from MIA and hope for a Darren Collision type steal...like Cory Joseph lol if he does become draft eligible.

Hope for a premium point guard? sounds like a missed opportunity.

Here are the Raptors 2nd round picks in franchise history. They have had 15 years to find just 1 gem....

Jimmy King
Tyson wheeler
DeeAndre Hulett
Remon Van de Hare
Albert Miralles
Roko Ukić
Uros Slokar
P. J. Tucker
Edin Bavčić

They have Miami's first rounder too, no? Not that it matters, it'd basically be a 2nd rounder anyway (28-30th).

If you want a good team then taking perry jones is the only option, him and Bargnani would become the most versatile PF/C combo and wreck shit up in the league, however the only downside to most people is that they both play like SFs. Still, I would take that option anyday than drafting another fucking guard

It's a guard driven league. You need good guard play in order to win games. If you don't have any good guard play you'll have a team thats barely making the playoffs. And bigs take longer to develop and have huge bust potential. You never ever draft considering position. You take the player that is the best. Think about where Portland would be if they drafted Durant.

Default kyrie irving. our next stud?

prospect Kyrie Irving is the latest. Pyonin, one of the best AAU coaches in America, worked with former Duke players Bobby Hurley and Jason Williams.

Irving is a 6-2 guard prospect who plays his high school basketball for traditional power St. Patrickís in New Jersey. The young star has been climbing every recruiting guruís list for the past several months. Irving clearly established himself as a top tier player with his body of work during the Tournament of Champions this past weekend.

Irving put on a show in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday, where he scored 40 points, going 12 of 17 from the field while hitting 4 of 4 from the three point stripe. He was coming off a 23 point, 7 assist performance the night before at the Dean Dome.

i like this kid. hes versatile on both ends of the floor. he sees the floor well. hes athletic and gets to the rim if needed fitting with our lineup. also he shoots the three, something even both our centres can do. i say we should do whatever is in our power to get him. we need the strong pg leadership presence. he could be a top pg in this leaque after three years like deron, chris, etc. imo

As much as I'd like to see the playoffs this coming season I can't help but think that we really DO need that next "star".... and to be realistic, we're only going to find one through the draft... and for that we need a top 3 pick.

Kyrie would be nice, but if the ping pong balls don't fall our way, Brandon Knight isn't a bad plan B...

Or Jeff Teagues brother Marquis...
