Who is our best shooter

I was just wondering who you thought was our best shooters on this team? I would say that Calderon is probably our best pure shooter the last 3yrs other then maybe Kapono who never shot enough anyway. But looking at our shooting % this season, we have some really good shooters, based on decision making, range, clutch and anything else you can think of, who is our best shooter in your opinion.

2009-10 stats

Turk- 44 FG% (40 3PT%)

Jose- 51 FG% (41 3PT%)

Beli- 45 FG% (42 3PT%)

Bargs- 47 FG% (40 3PT%)

Bosh - 49 FG% (50 3PT%)

Jose ... he has been for three straight seasons.

He started off very poorly and he's already back up to 50%FG and 40% from three.

I also realized I just exactly what u did ... but I didnt really read before responding lol.

Gurk 12-07-2009 12:02 AM

Jose for sure. He did have a tough strech at the start of the year but his shot is looking beter as the season goes on

babyface 12-07-2009 12:40 AM

Bargs is the best shooter

BballWatcher 12-07-2009 12:43 AM

I would actually say that our best three shooters are Bargnani, Hedo and Belinelli, though Marco is still a bit too streaky for my tastes. Calderon is a very good shooter and Bosh is very good too.

In my opinion, a good shooter is defined by not only field goal percentage, but the kind of shots they can hit. Jose's a good shooter, but he misses too many gimme's for me to say he's our best shooter. Jose is never ever EVER the focus of the D. He takes and makes a lot of wide open shots. Bosh meanwhile, shoots a shitload of contested J's.

Bargnani is a good shooter because he can hit shots inside and outside, and routinely makes his own shots inside the 3 point line. Bargs has gone from a spot up shooter exclusively to a deadly player when he puts the ball on the floor (and we're at home - he's still way worse on the road).

Hedo is a fantastic shooter - he routinely hits shots off balance, fading to one direction or another, and in late clock situations.
-----

When you think about the NBA - who are some of the best shooters out there? You still have to go with, among others, Ray Allen and Dirk Nowitzki, with their perfect releases, and Steve Nash, Mr. Efficiency.

Calderon is a very good shooter, but he seems to peak as a ~12ppg scorer for some reason. He's not a guy who can just crank up the volume of shots and expect his field goal % to stay constant, or if he is, I have no idea why he doesn't.

Amir Johnson :laughing1:

babyface 12-07-2009 12:48 AM

those percentages are misleading. It's like saying Yao Ming is the best 3 point shooter because he hit that one 3 in the entire season.

IMO..
Spot up-Bargs/Jose
Off the dribble-Hedo/Jose
Off screens-Beli

When on a roll, definetly Belli. The guy doesn't even need to plant before shooting.

LX 12-07-2009 11:47 AM

I'd like to say Jose, but he goes so long without shooting at times. If he can find his shot more often, it's going to be so helpful. When he is on that shot is absolutely beautiful.

Bosh's shot lately has been how I've wanted to see his form. If he can keep that going, then he has to be considered.

Really - with all these guys - deciding has to involve guessing at how the rest of the season will go. I don't think any of them has set themselves that far apart from another, and none of them should be a guy that gets a huge volume of shots. Everything is about balance with this team.

fancylad 12-07-2009 11:55 AM

rasho also has a pretty sweet shot.

But seriously, for a team with as many good shooters as ours, it's good to see them not clanking like they did in that losing streak.

I'm very happy Jose has found his stroke again. Dude is dependable as hell when his shot falls. also nice to see him taking advantage of holes in the defense and taking it to the hoop.

These last few games have also been very good shooting nights for Bosh too - and what's more, he's shot the ball very smartly.

hirmak 12-07-2009 04:13 PM

Hedo is the best shooter because he's so calm even in the most important seconds and he likes to take responsibility. When he couldn't shoot good in the beginning,he doesn't get away from the ball and shoots again:yeah:

moremilk 12-07-2009 10:35 PM

jose
belinelli
hedu
bargnani
bosh

bosh shoots the most close shots and he doesn't shoot 3s, so his FG% is high, but the top 3 are very good shooters from anywhere on the court (especially marco - his range is unlimited ...). Bargnani is a good shooter, but not a great one. He's very good for someone his size, which makes him stand out, but I wouldn't say he's as good as the top 3.

We're less of a jump shooting team then in recent years imo.

Bosh is being more aggressive, and guys like Beli, Jack, Wright, Demar are all guys that pick there spots and go to the rim. Add to that Amir, and we get to line alot more this season and it shows we're more aggressive then the Krapono, Moon, AP era.

Lao Wai 12-08-2009 12:23 AM

Jose is the best shooter but needs to do more penetration like he did 2 years ago.
This is basically a team of fine shooter with the exception of Wright and Evens when he gets back and excluding the deep bench.:yeah:

nathanapes 12-08-2009 01:53 AM

We should make a who is our best defender thread.....

The MVP of West Hollywood 12-08-2009 02:00 AM

El Calderon

He never seems to have cold stretches or miss open shots
