Last year I went to the ACC and saw the homeopener vs Indy. I came home and learned of DD's extension. I was not a happy camper.

it's a Toronto sports team, it is what it is.

Our ceiling right now is a first round playoff exit and that is simply not enough for most Raps fans...
So if we finish in 6th, 7th or 8th and lose to MIA, CHI, IND or BKN in 6 games in the 1st round the season would be considered a failure?

Nope, how would that be considered a failure?

Not at all. I will be thrilled if we could make the playoffs, but so far from what I have seen during the pre-season, which I take with a grain of salt, I am not too keen.

Not a failure but arguably a wasted season. Sure our guys gain experience but Lowry could walk after that and we'd be in the shitter.

That's what you and me think but that's not what pro tankers here have been saying for months.

A first round exit is not an option they said, because that's all this roster will ever achieve...

I don't think it would be at all. Just responding to some of the pundits who deem a 1st round playoff loss "a waste".

This team hasn't even BEEN to the post-season in 5 years.

Getting there would be a big step in the right direction.

A team with Rudy will never make it past the 2nd round and that's even pushing it, he'd need a good supporting cast which is very difficult to achieve because of his shitty contract.

The pressure cooker of playoff level basketball teaches and reveals much about who can cut it or step up to it.
We need to be there to know anything about which we speak or seek.

Based on.... what exactly?

Playoff experience for guys like DD and JV will only help them.

And Rudy won't be with us forever.

well, that's a pretty wide range. If you win 37 games and lose 4-0 to Miami is one thing, if you win 45 games and lose in 6 or 7 tough games to Chicago, that's another story. The first scenario is a massive fail - it just proves the core is submediocre and you get a poor draft pick.

Since this team is basically capped out, it's very hard to envision a 37 wins team becoming a 55 wins through minor trades, internal improvement and non-lottery draft picks. Even if possible, it would take years.

Please edit and add "in my negative and myopic Rudy Gay hating opinion" to your post, it is not fact as you are couching it.

What about maturation and development of JV, the growth of the players on the current roster?

You hate Rudy Gay ... we get that.

He is our best SF in the past # of yrs and as for his stats ... they are based on his former team, a western conference team with a different mix than our current team. Grain of salt stuff at best. Yap away at the end of this coming season, good or bad, then you can poke us all in the eye with your clairvoyance or claim to be astonished by the results.

You'll get mad love either way ...

Well said good sir.

A ridiculous amount of fans forget the whole cap thing.

Your post was more on the money than Nash's free throw shot
