So, who's the main offensive weapon on this team? DeMar or Bargnani.

I know with the talk of running sets for Bargnani some will think it's AB. However, with DeRozan's expected growth and added range and ability to get to the rim, is he the natural choice to be the 'main' offensive weapon.

For me it's Bargnani. He's the only proven 20 ppg scorer on this roster, and there's no question that he has enough talent to have the offense ran through him. DeMar is still too young in my opinion to have that kind of weight on his shoulders.

But in a year from now, it could very well be DeRozan who is given the keys to this offense.

I would say it is important that neither of them ends up operating on an island. To that respect I liked Demar's development as far as involving others and reading defenses, and expect more from that trend.

Is LX the only other poster on the board with his head on straight?

The very simple answer to this question is Demar DeRozan.

They are each moderately effective as a primary option in the offense. However, Bargnani is much better as a secondary option - he works best off open looks and broken defenses. Let Demar handle the ball and attack, and Bargnani should still get lots of opportunity to do serious damage. And with Bargnani off the ball, that's one less big Demar has to worry about when he drives.

Why does it have to run through one person? I'd rather see team ball than one person jacking up shots

Every team has a main scorer or two. You can still play team ball and rely on two main offensive players. I agree about team ball, but i'd like to see Demar start to assert himself as the guy on this team, hopefully he has improved his 3pt shot.

Neither can handle the ball at this point in time, so I'd still try to go through Bargs in either post position.

Until DD develops more than his patented spin move consistently, he's not ready to be handed the keys. Why put that pressure on him anyways.... he's not ready.

I think as of right now its still Bargnani the go to guy. Derozan is currently the 2nd still. Reason being is his offensive skill set isnt as polished as he just showed life that he can score last season and make it consistent. Teams this year are really going to play tough d on him and double him. So hell need to be able to not force up shots, have a dribble (which he doesnt really) to help him get out of situations. I see him becoming a well rounded slasher type of player though coming of screens. Its just an adaption of his running to the corners and shooting

Might want to start by actually supporting Dan's point of view in the poll.

To say Demar can't dribble is absolute bollocks. He didn't all his attempts at the basket getting feeds from Jose.

I don't think he is an elite handler, but he's not Jason Kapono either.

last year he was terrible handling the ball in the half-court when he was looking to play the role of distributor. Slashing to the basket he was good, but that's not ballhandling really,

If he is such a terrible bal hander how come he doesn't average more turnovers per game? You don't see bad ballhandlers slashing to the basket often.

I'd say Bargnani is still our main offensive weapon just because 9 out of 10 times he creates match up problems for his defender. On the other hand DeRozan is going up against guys who are tailored to defend his style of play.

We will see if DeMar can take it to the next level this season.

he didn't really handle the ball that much last year, except to slash to the basket and on fast breaks....... and it wasn't all that impressive. I hope he's really developed that aspect to his game, but he hasn't shown it yet.

He can't play the role of distributor at all. I don't think it has anything to do with ball handling though.

So it's not really ball handling then when you slash to the bucket. I got ya. He didn't get 17 a game from catch and shoot and dumpoffs from Jose the whole time.
