Default who do we bring back ?

we have for sure :

JBay/caldy
DD/barbosa
JJ/kleiza
Amir/ed
bargs/alabi/"JV"

make 10 player + 1 future

so from last year roster we had :
r. evans
Ju wright
ajinca
dorsey
weems (can't come back this year, i think)

do we bring back one of them ?

i will not mind ajinca and dorsey
dorsey for cheap bring some tuf-ness and ajinca is still a young big who can become a solid backup Center, especially with a good defensive coach !

Ajinca for big man insurance (and he hasn't reached his potential yet). Could be important if Bargnani is traded midseason.
Julian Wright for wing insurance (never mind the incident with Triano, he is a team guy)
Weems and Dorsey are locked in Europe, so maybe next year.

And while it is a far reach, Marcus Banks. He showed greatest defensive game by a Raptors PG I have ever seen.

Hire Reggie as assistant coach too

Just bring NBDL level guys at minimum. Someone who works hard on D preferably (and in scrimmages between games).
You have three goals this year imo: 1. Change the culture to be more defensively balanced -> more hard workers in games and more intense workouts. 2. Tank for good picks. 3. Preserve cap room for next year.

Unless you find someone young and valuable long term, don't waste the cap. Do it next year. You'll have another picks and a better grasp on what your roster looks like. You'll also know if Bargs etc made any progress under defensive coach and what's their future.

I don't like the diea of Ajinca back despite his glorious jumpshooting ability. I'm sure Amir/Ed will be taking on minutes at C when nessecary.

That. ^^^

I still think we gave up on that kid WAY too soon and that he might have made a decent PG.

Lamenting the fact that we won't get to see big Joey either.... kinda wanted to see him get more time with Reggie gone.

I also thought we gave up on Graham too soon! Dorsey wouldn't be a bad guy to keep around if we didn't already have so many PFs. It's kind of why I advocated even trying to swap Amir out for Robin Lopez, the PF spot is just so much easier to fill than the C spot.

The media blew up on Belinelli and a trade was inevitable. This market is brutally dumb like that.

This.

Sign 2-3 scrubs on 1 yr contracts, Tank the year, Draft a SF, Amnesty Calderon, Offer Dwill or Westbrook the Max, bring back Alabi & Bayless (restricted FA's)

Then you have something like this

Valanciunas/Johnson/Alabi
Bargnani/Davis
Barnes/Johnson/Kleiza
Derozan/(2nd rd pick)
Williams/Bayless
