Raptors Who is available?

Toronto Raptors:

Who Is Likely On The Move?: Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani, Leandro Barbosa, Jerryd Bayless, James Johnson

The Raptors have a ton of trade chips, the question is will they pull the trigger now or wait until the draft to start re-shaping for the future.

The Raptors are six games out of the playoff picture and have been winning 32% of their games. Thatís not exactly the recipe for a playoff run.

Jose Calderon is having a great year and after two years of believing no team would take his contract, more than a couple of teams have called about Jose so the time might be now to dump the $9.7 million he is owed this year, if only to clear the $10.5 million he is owed from the cap next year.

Raptorís coach Dwane Casey has been extremely vocal that trading Jose would be a step backwards for the team on the court, but given where they stand in the big picture the draft pick obtained from tanking now is worth more than Jose going forward.

Andre Bargnaniís name gets mentioned a lot with the Raptors, but league sources say the Raptors continue to turn away offers on Bargs. The belief is he was a borderline All-Star this year before getting hurt, and once he is paired with this yearís first round pick Jonas Valančiūnas next year heíll get even better.

Leandro Barbosas is an ending contract and there is considerable interest around the league in LB, so look for him to be a name mentioned a lot in the next ten days.

Jerryd Bayless will likely be a restricted free agent this summer, so Toronto has to decide if he is their future plans. Jerryd has trade value so he is a name to watch as is James Johnson.

Neither Bayless nor Johnson will return much, but they are chips the Raptors could cash to infuse the roster with new blood or extract draft picks for their troubles.

Expect the Raptors to be active around the trade deadline. Their season is going nowhere and they finally have guys playing to the level of their contracts, so this might be the ultimate sell high situation for Toronto.

Holding onto Bargnani for the sake of pairing him with Jonas just smells of something that could end up driving me insane. If I could have seen him play at a high level for more than 13 games, and seen him react to being tested a little more I might feel differently. I would still have to think the right offer could do the job.

You're not the only one. Would love to know what some of those offers were....

Sell high on Calderon. We've seen the past few days that he is still quite an inconsistent player, and he, like in the past, could have a stretch of bad games.

I will be bummed if James Johnson is traded. I really want cheer on his development for the next couple of years. NBA All-Defensive First Team baby!

I don't see him going anywhere. He's become a pretty important player on this team and his defensive attitude fits in well under Casey. I would say that if anyone is dealt it's barbosa. But even that i don't see happening.

bargnani, demar, ed and jj are the only keepers - can't see us getting fair value in return for these players. Actually, I kind of like gray too for the minimum, not a bad specialist big to defend the big guys. Beyond that, amir and linas are earning their paycheques and everybody else is stealing money from the club.

It sucks not knowing what the offers are, most likely they are crap this early in the process, they'll get better as we get closer to the deadline.

I think barbosa is basically as good as gone, it would be crazy not to trade him if we can get ANYTHING for him, unless we want to resign him this summer (hope not ...). I have a feeling this is as far as we'll go though, although a Calderon for crawford swap might be possible as well.

Bet they were all low-ball type offers.

please BC keep : DD, JJ, Amir, and gray.
they are the core right now.

our pick this year can be 5-10th, so if you want to have more young real talent coming, yes, sold Caldy, JB and kleiza.
maybe even barg and barbosa for the right pieces.
because casey's system works fine for now. he need more talent, and more hungry players.

go after player like batum, or M morris (Suns) at sf. young, defender, versatile and scorer.
Go after a dynamic pg like jennings or evans or walker.

i know i'm crazy, but even if barg become an all star like dirk, wait 10 more years to be able to really contend for the title idn't a valid option.
so trade him high.
same for caldy. the others trade chips can complete some deals.

not sure why people always taking of trading LB...AB being out, after DD he is the next offensive player we got...he is consistent on our last 6-7 scoring 12 or more...who else is doing this for the raptors...who else?...JJ is playing good but not of the same number...

JC, AJ, LK and JB is so on and off...

unless we can trade him for somebody who can produce the same number + with some defence...
