I'd take advice from a professional who's directly involved in the practice. Just my two cents.

don't look to bill simmons for analysis. he's a sports comedian.

Also, TNT commentators shit on ESPN commentators

That's why on TNT, Ernie Johnson (Non-NBA player) delegates the questions to the NBA players (Shaq, Kenny, Charles). Any other input from Non-NBA players is irrelevant.
I disagree - nba insiders and outsiders have different perspectives on the game and their analysis are at worst complementary. By your logic, any coach/gm/scout who wasn't in the nba shouldn't have a job ...

and many nba players are not that smart, so just because they played in the league, doesn't mean they know shit about the game. An ex-smart player is definitely somebody you should listen to, but there's always the caveat about nba insiders that their analysis has to be more guarded, they don't want to offend friends and acquiantances ...

imo, it's best to use your eyes and read/listen to as many opinions as you can and make your own judgement. Truth is, even if everybody agrees on something, it can still prove wrong - bbal is not hard science after all.

the guy knows a ton about sports though, while many things he says are for comedic effect or to create outrage, he can still have interesting things to say a lot of the time.

of course. but he's not an analyst. he offers opinions from a fan's perspective and tries to make people laugh.

I agree with this

also whats up with jalen rose who played and lived in Canada for three years not knowing the current situation of the city as it pertains to toronto and the fact that Toronto is a new hotbed of basketball

you would think he would enlighten bill simmons and the listeners who don't know much about Toronto but he seemed to do the opposite and tear down the city
