1. Heat 2. Pacers 3. Celtics 4. Nets 5. Bulls 6. Knicks 7. Washington 8. Philadelphia/Toronto/Milwaukee/Atlanta We should be in the hunt for a .500 season give or take. Last edited by jeffb; 07-28-2012 at 11:31 AM. |

1. Heat 2. Nets 3. Knicks 4. Pacers 5. Raptors (Really not that far fetched, anything after 4th is a total crapshoot). 6. Bulls 7. Celts 8. roll some dice. |

The first six weeks will tell us a lot imo. A lot of road games, west coast trip. If we come out that in striking distance of 8th we should be ok. Any success though will depend on health, we're definitely better than last year. If we go into January in a playoff spot or in striking distance i could see BC then pulling the trigger on a deal involving Calderon that helps us improve our talent at the 2 or 3 spot. This should be a fun team to watch. I believe this season is about competing and hopefully making it in while next season will be about moving up within the Conference and being a top 6 team.

People, the Hawks lost their best player. They're not making the playoffs unless Teague+Morrow take huge steps forward with their games. They're not a playoff team as of right now.
The Bulls as of right now look like they'll make the playoffs, but they're so thin on their bench that one injury to any of Noah/Boozer/Deng and they're lottery bound. And whens the last time all 3 stayed healthy the entire year? The 6-8 seeds are wide open this year. PHI/TOR/MIL/WAS/CHI will be the teams fighting for those spots IMO. I like PHI/TOR/WAS at the moment. |

The Pacers likely got better with Augustin/G Green/Mahinmi replacing Collison/Jones/Amundson. Why would they drop in seeding? They have chemistry already coming in to the year unlike NY/BRK.

I'm not super big on them. By that, I mean that I could see them slip outside the top 3. But it's totally understandable that people would rate them high.
1 - Last year, the Pacers had the 5th best record in the entire league. 2 - They finished the year really strong with George Hill as the starting PG. Some people might expect that momentum to carry over. 3 - Since a few of their players are young, some people might see room for further internal improvement due to the natural progress of guys like Paul George. |

I think Boston is a bit of a wildcard when talking about the top 3 seeds. Avery Bradley made their defense even stronger last year when he was healthy. And Green, even if overrated, gives them some added scoring depth that they didn't have last year on the bench. I expect Terry to give them everything they lost with departure of Allen, which will also further improve the bench since Bradley will almost certainly be starting at SG. |
