Default Where Did Hedo Go?-HOOPSWORLD

I think everyone should look at this, this talks about something that i think a lot of people have let slide by. I think if Hedu doesn't improve soon hes not ganna because hes set for the next five years....

I have no real big issues at all with Hedo's game so far. I expected 15/5/5 and he's averaging 14/5/4. The fact is we all expected a slow start from him with his lack of training camp, then he had a hip injury and wasn't 100% the first 10+ games. And with Bosh, Bargs and a few other guys getting theirs, 14-15ppg is good imo.

When Jack/Jose are on the court together it takes away from Turkoglu getting more touches as well, which seems to be around 20MPG, so with that being said i'm ok with his game to date and i think he'll continue to improve with this groupe as time goes on. One thing i've liked is his court vision and he doesn't seem to force up too many shots. And lately he's been rebounding well (8 vs Pho, 9 vs Wash, 9 @ Wash, 4 vs Chi in 20 minutes)

I think some weight has been lifted off his shoulders already with the last couple of games. He'll be fine. He better be - I love seeing those passes too much.

Feels like hes settling for some jumpshots. Maybe I'm mistaken and those are the kind of daggers he shoots, but can't help it, some come way too early in shot clock and with nobody to rebound them...

i think he's at his best with jose off the floor and he's the principle ball handler. bringing the ball up and going straight into the pick-and-roll with Bosh and or Bargs right away was a great play last night. he makes great decisions, and i think often, if the play breaks down, people tend not to blame the guy setting the pick, but instead the guy with the ball. I think he's become more effective because other guys are getting better at reading the play.
"If Hedo kind of slowly dribbles into the paint, if I roll hard into the middle, my other man is cheating and I've got a dunk."

Bosh had two dunks last night from just rolling correctly.

The article brings up the fact that he's only scored 20 points 4 times this season, yet it fails to mention that his shot attempts are down almost 3 a game from last season. His minutes are also down a bit. Since his shot attempts are down 3 a game, it's pretty safe to say his overall touches are down significantly, which affects his assist totals. Jeffb was right about the Jack/Jose combo being primarily responsible for that. For significant minutes, the Raps run a backcourt with two ball handlers. In Orlando, Courtney Lee, Reddick and Peitrus were getting many of the minutes at the 2 position. They did not handle the ball as much as Jack does. Also, Jameer Nelson is not as ball dominant as Jose. It's not an excuse when people say Hedo is adjusting. And, to be honest, on the offensive end, he's actually doing a good job of adjusting without becoming a liability. His assist to turnover ratio is practically the same as last year. His shooting is actually more efficient than it was last year. Hedo is still shooting 45% from the field and 40% from 3 point range. That type of efficiency keeps the defense honest and helps spread the floor. If Hedo becomes a chucker, then I'll get concerned. But as longs as he is getting his points in the flow of the Raps offense, I'm cool with his numbers. Lack of scoring has not been the Raps problem.

Add to that, when they're not on the court he's often on the floor with Beli who also handles the ball. The fact is, he's on the floor with one or two of Beli/Jack/Jose alot of the time. He's taking less shots per game (-3) and is shooting a better % this season.

08-09 - 41 FG% (35 3PT%)

09-10 - 44 FG% (40 3PT%)

= Less shots and has the ball in his hands less then in Orlando

You have to understand what Hedo is - Kobe during the finals said " He is not the most athletic player, but he is crafty" - and that's what he is .. his game is based on outsmarting the opponent but that also means that his teammates have to understand all of his tricks and they are not there yet.. but in the last games we have seen several times Bosh doing the "dwight roll" and Bargs imitating lewis for open threes - they are picking up hedo's game.. I think it will get only better from this point on ..

Hedo's game gets better as the season progresses. It's always been like that. So expect a better Hedo in&after January. Though he is not a Wade or Lebron. It's not realistic to expect him to play like Kobe.

u know what, jose needs to become a shooter sometimes, when hedo is on the floor, he has a really nice jump shot and hedo will get him the ball
