When will Ujiri fire Casey?

Saw this poll on Raptors Republic (via Twitter) thought it would be good idea to get one for RF

just4_raps 12-04-2013 03:34 AM

yes. fired in the off-season.

Kriz 12-04-2013 03:39 AM

Its either this season or off season...

If off season though it means tank mode. Unless Casey just becomes a wizard out of no where.

Where's the "reassigned" option?

Ball Don't Lie 12-04-2013 03:45 AM

Both him and Rudy need to be gone by the end of 2013 in order for JV to effectively develop during his 2nd year in the league. If he goes through this season being the 4th option on offence, getting inconsistent PT, and not learning from his mistakes by getting more experience on the floor, it's going to really hurt his development and our team in the future, which is truly unacceptable.

He is on contract so he can't leave

I think that we would REALLY have to suck bad.... like 15 losses in a row bad... for him to get canned.... and even then... I dunno.

I think Ujiri will just hang on to him and shoo him out the door at season's end.

I think at that point he's a keeper. That's an admirable job tanking.

Just before we head into the playoffs?
Kind of an odd time to fire a coach... :dead:

rapsmannn 12-04-2013 08:23 AM

well a phx and lakers loss could thing move a little quicker, could mount to 6 game losing streak

fancylad 12-04-2013 08:39 AM

Ujiri is not rushing ANYTHING - nor should he.

He's not going to do his work with any urgency or panic because that's not how good decisions are made (see Brian Colangelo). No, i expect him to sit on his hands for a while and just watch and get a really good understanding of exactly what this team needs and what the best moves are. If he doesn't have a coach lined up and ready to take the job (which i suspect he doesn't) there's no point to firing Casey yet.

Best thing i can suggest is to not get caught up in success this season.

Kinda hard to get caught up in something that we're not going to have this season with Casey still here.

creative1mm 12-04-2013 10:04 AM

he won't get extended pass this season that's all

Totally agree....let the tank commander finish his job first then he can simply not be brought back. Simple. Clean. Media friendly. :mu:

This team will still win 30-35 games unless MU completely blows it up

fancylad 12-04-2013 10:41 AM

i still think Ujiri is going through the decision making process. Before the season started we all pretty much agreed that the first x # of games was going to dictate the direction we were going to take. I don't think we've reached that number yet. We're probably close and the pendulum is swinging in one direction *cough* tank *cough*, but i still think Ujiri is taking his time watching.

The pace the team is on is 29 wins.....I think the team will be lucky to scratch 30 wins.

Question about MU is not "unless" MU blows it up but when. Truthfully, MU doesn't have to do much but watch the team blow itself up.

moremilk 12-04-2013 12:34 PM

we will win 35+ games with this team, we are better than the record suggest, our schedule has been tough and we lost a number of close games to good teams. And we will probably get better as the season moves along, since a large number of our players are underperforming now and at the very least you'd expect JV and Amir to play better down the road.

JoeyJoJo Shabbadu 12-04-2013 12:42 PM

I was going to start a similar poll. I cannot fathom what it takes to get fired if its not that game after the 3 prior. He's lost this team ages ago.

At this point I think DC staying is going to start to damage the players. Even if for some reason it wasn't his fault, he should be fired. There is just a point where coaches have to be let go.
