What's the plan after Lowry?

Theirs nothing positive from this off season BC has done. And to me no clear plan for the future. The Lowry signing is nice but hes leaving 100% after his contract is done. We will quite likely be a worse team then, thanks to our recent signings and BC's general stubbornness with our players. A player like Lowry with coach/team issues in the past will not want to be on this losing joke of an NBA franchise. So once he's gone and we're already out this years pick, how bad are we going to be? I have a bad feeling about the future :sigh:.

Lowry's not leaving, he's going to take the max from us.... just watch.

We lose a couple of close games to teams significantly better than us and its the end of the world. give this team some time to gel and Casey some time to figure out the rotations and we should be fine.

well, given the contracts BC has handed out, it shouldn't come as a surprise.

The plan should be to add a stud SF through trade and add a couple vets off the bench.

He's not an unrestricted free agent... correct?

Metallikid 11-11-2012 04:07 PM

After next season he will be an unrestricted free agent. We have a much better shot at keeping him if we extend him after the season.

And if we pick up a stud SF. Also, wherever he is, he wants to be "the" PG. Toronto can offer that.

DDUnreal 11-11-2012 04:53 PM

The responses are way too hopeful for my liking. Have you all been watching the same team I have?

Zalgiris 11-11-2012 04:58 PM

team with Lowry was competitive against powerhouses despite shitty mcfields. lets say his mental problems end, kleiza returns to DC's plans, Valanciunas improves, DD continues to play OK, bargnani improves his mindset a little bit and we're a playoff team without new players. there are reasons for lowry to stay, max contract wouldn't be bad either.

Zero chance he extends. He can't get very much money via extension.

Metallikid 11-11-2012 06:06 PM

Throw the max at Lowry, Josh Smith and Al Jefferson. Trade/waive/amnesty any players not named Jonas to get the cap room. Go into the tax if need be. :cookie:

FYI, this suggestion is impossible. To get all 3, you'd need the cap room for all 3. In that case, the tax will not be a concern.

Oh, and no thanks to Al Jeff.

But he gets security. A 3 year max contract (50 mil+) sets him up for life if he's smart.

Also he still will be getting paid 4 and 5 years from now, if he takes the 3 year max. He'll be 31 when that contract runs out, which plausibly still leaves him in line for another big deal and possibly making as much at 32 and 33 as in the UFA deal. So long term, he plausibly could make more taking the 3 year max, then signing another huge contract at 31.

He can't get a max contract by extending. He'd get paid less than 10M per year if he extended his current contract.

If he's smart, he'll go to free agency. If he stays it will be as a FA, not through extension.

Trade Bargnani, let Calderon walk and try our best to get rid of Fields.
