The question is: what's the MOST you would give up? I know we wouldn't start by offering Valanciunas. But if it took giving up Valanciunas, would you do it?

Terrence Ross?

DeMar DeRozan and Ed Davis?

Yes, but this is the NBA, where rigging the draft happens.
You know we get the 3rd over all pick this year, just to fuck us the following year when we're terrible and magically the balls fall where they need to for us to get anywhere close to respectability again.

The most I'd give up is Terrence Ross or Demar. The reasoning being if we retain our pick this year and want to tank next year to make a run at Wiggins (plus better draft class) we would be hindered given the pick is top 2 protected next year.

Man, its a shitty draft let the pick go. I don't even want it back. We have 2 young rooks to develop this year. They will be sophomores next year, let it be.

The reason why people want the pick back is because no matter where we finish if we're lottery eligible we'll get 1-3.

the depth of the draft class is irrelevant if you have the first overall pick.

no guarantees, but shabazz is a heck of a player.

The reason why I choose Terrence Ross. I would have given up Demar, but knowing Presti he would want Ed Davis on top of that. I think Ed has some value and potential filling out that Haslem type role off the bench which is valuable. The Demar and Ed route still makes some sense for me as well depedning on the direction the team takes.

2013 NBA DRAFT
We're shit this year, it's going to be a high draft pick for sure. Let's just say the lottery doesn't work out for us and we fall to 4-6. There could be players like Shabazz Muhammed, Ben Mclemore, Marcus Smart, Otto Porter available. Now giving up Terrence Ross for one of them wouldn't really be considered a downgrade for us. It could potentially be an upgrade.

2014 NBA Draft
I support the full re-build approach and don't want to be a mediocre team. If we reacquired the pick, we could really make a push to tank in 2014 with some added security. Last thing I want to see is we get lucky retain our pick in 2013 and lose it in 2014 while the OKC draft Jabari Parker or someone like that at 3. Terrence Ross would be the right piece to give up right now; if available.

i chose nobody, because imo these four players (ross, jv, davis and derozan) are exactly those, who i would keep, if we decide to rebuild completely; they have high-end potential and enough talent to develop into the future of our franchise, so keep all four of them

Depends where we land. If we get top 3 this year, I'd definitely try and trade for our pick back for next year. But if we land in the mid-lottery, let them have the pick.

i thought that this draft is so shitty, that even the highest prospects aren't worth more than our young guys, or am i badly informed?

Idk dude I've been under the same impression. Hopefully someone fills us in though, I don't follow NCAA at all, but you gotta figure there's at least 1-2 all star caliber guys

Here's what interesting about the pick situation: It might benefit OKC to just let us have the pick in 2013, so intentionally rolling our commitment to 2014. Other than 2014 being considered a better class, a big reason is the finances. They'd have to pay the rookie between 3 and 3.7 mil next year if we're picking 4th-6th which hurts them because resigning Martin and staying under the tax will be very, very tight for them.

So maybe we make them an offer where the pick becomes top 55 protected in 2013, but only top 1 protected next year and unprotected after that.

Or maybe there's something that can be done with Perkins. Say we offer them Kleiza and Gray for Perkins and the 2013 pick becoming top 55 protected. Kleiza and Gray are owed 7.2 mil in 2013-2014 instead of Perkins' 8.5. So add that to the 3 mil+ they'd be saving by not having a rookie on their salary next year and they'd cut 4.5-5 mil total off their cap, which would be big for them. They'd also cut Perkins' 9.1 mil 2014-2015 salary. Also Kleiza and Gray would be expirings next summer and moveable for smaller contracts
