Default What's Happens To Bargnani Now?

OK, I didn't start this thread to flame my "favourite" Raptor, but to have a realistic discussion regarding Bargnani. If and when the O'Neal deal is finalized, what happens to Andrea now?

We now know he won't be starting at centre come October/November. Does Sam start him at SF? Can Andrea keep up with the quicker and faster SF's in the league without be a liability? Does Bargs continue to come off the bench at least for the next 1 to 2 years depending on what happens to Jermaine? Or does Andrea now become expendable and do you think BC is exploring his options now and possible putting up Bargs for sale for teams that might be interested?

Thoughts?

backup pf. Doesn't have to rebound and block shots. Will spread the floor, do the things he does best, and not have 100% media attention focused on whether or not he can hack it as a starter. this is exactly what he needs.

As in big man camp? I believe so as well some camp with John Lucas, but not 100% sure.

WOW ... all you guys are certainly more patient than I am.

Who was the last #1 that took this long to develop? I'm not being sarcastic either. I actually can't remember.

Where he was picked really isn't relevant to whether or not he develops. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I think this year will be very telling. He needs to bounce back.

in reply to doc...

no one, but Bargs seems a little different. he's shown flashes of brilliance, it's just a matter of confidence and permission to do what he does best. last year he was forced outside of his comfort zone. i still believe in my heart of hearts that it was an aberration. you may very well be right. hell, you probably are, but i just haven't given up on him yet.

Can't remember...BUT he shows glimpses of potential here and there that make you wonder WHAT IF HE ONE DAY FINDS?GETS IT.....He is definitely no Kwame which makes you give him the benefit of the doubt for another year...

I know an upgrade at either SG/SF is still needed BUT not at his expense YET....

To each their own. Had he been taken beyond number #5 I could really care less at this point and accepted it, but there aren't too many excuses for number #1's because most haven't disappointed as much as Andrea has at this point. I think the last high pick to disappoint to this degree if not more was Darko.

So much for me not flaming Bargnani.

Depends. If we can sign a decent Swingman, I can see Bargs in our future.

lol, I'm also disappointed in the development but I also understand what happened last season. He was asked to play a position he's never played, he was banged up and lost his confidence. He had a leg injury most of the season and for a guy who depends on a deadly jump shot then that sort of injury sealed his fate.

Hey .... kudos to all you guys because your better fans of Bargnani than I am. One thing I've always had no issues with is eating crow when I'm wrong. So, I open encourage Bargnani to prove me wrong and make me a believer. I just haven't seen nor felt the optimism that all you share. Sorry.

Also, not Darko. Kwame Brown. Though Darko's draft class was way more sexi.

This is exactly why I hate this trade.
BC goes on talking about him and how he hasnt given up on him, but do you seriously expect him to devlelop with limited minutes off the bench?
If your going to trade for J.O, trade Bargs before his value dies on the bench.
I really doubt BC will trade barney, so seriously whats going to happen to our 1st overall selection of the 06 draft for the next 2 years?
