WHAT ARE YOUR PRE-SEASON CONCERNS?

Hey guys, i know its just preseason and all, but if you read the article on NBA.com.. you will see that preseason has a pretty big impact for the most part. Which basically means teams that do well early on, for the most part, will do well by making the playoffs. It was something like 80% of teams with 500 record in the preseason make the playoffs. Pretty convincing numbers. Anyways, here are some of my concerns thus far, and i know it may be pre-mature but as a die-hard Raptors fan.. i get worried easily, as im sure many of you can relate to. Ok here goes:

1) Calderon looking old and tired: All his promises of "you will see a new jose this year" seem to be all words so far. He's not looking any faster, sharper or better in any way. I know he hasnt played for a while but come on.. did you guys expect this??

2) Jack's poor shooting.. most of the games i saw he shot like 3-13 from the floor... enough said

3) Turkoglu looks bored, tired, dead? In all the interviews he looks like he's sturggling to keep his eyes open and talk.. or is that how he always is lol???

4) INJURIES! how many injuries are we dealing with already?? I know this team is more deep then last year but still, pretty rough.

5) The defense has been pretty bad.. ( see houston and boston games ) the idea of defending the paint and leaving otuside open is ridiculous.. how are they gonna beat the top togs like boston ( ray allen), orlando (lewis) etc etc etc?

6) Bosh is bigger yes, but is he tougher? he hasnt shown it yet..

I am impressed however with bargnani.. and im calling this right now: Bosh will be traded before the deadline for a tougher, traditional big man in the low post... that plus bargani Calderon turk will be pretty impressive

WE are still tooo soft.

What do you guys think, besides the fact that im crazy :P??

I dont have anyone specific in mind TBH, but someone who likes to rebound, stay in the low post and be tough.. Biedrins, Lee etc. Dont have exact trade details in mind, but some player like that is what the raps desperatley need

Coaching would definitely be my primary concern.

gotta agree with u guys on that one.. the coaching, and the coaches defensive mentality is horrendous...i hate to say this so early, but this might be the 3rd year in a row that i got superr excited and might be crushed again..

Triano's actual success as a head coach is what exactly? He's good enough to be where he is. But what has he won??
How is that success or lack their of supposed to translate into success at the NBA level.

I'd like to know what his record as the head coach of Simon Fraser is.

Why is it never mentioned and nowhere to be found?

But just the fact that we're looking for his Canadian university coaching record says something about his credibility as a NBA head coach.

No shit. I was saying that 6 months ago and got chewed out by nearly everyone here. The guy has no experience on this level, and no winning background, period. I pointed this out and was told he led Canada to 7th place what, 12yrs ago? Please.

Are you guys watching the pre-season games? or just reading other people's comments and re-posting the same thing?

Bargs is absolutely cash on the offensive end, and absolutely terrible on the defensive end so far.

also, Calderon has been looking pretty good to me. Alot sharper and alot quicker. I've seen him pick point gaurds and go coast to coast for the layup. He's a guy that needs to feel the game and he heats up as he progresses, I think he's been great.

The problem with our offense... is more or less no offensive SYSTEM put in place. IF you watch the Jazz, everyone is always moving and it's absolutely amazing. They need to go back to the basics and have people move without the ball.. pass screen away and such and not be caught up in the amount of talent they have (ie... ability to hit fadeaway regardless of what kinda defence is given).

Besides defense, another concern of mine is Bosh trying to do too much (offensively) in this, his contract year. I hope he doesn't try to put the team on his shoulders and fail miserably by missing fade away J after J in the 4th quarter. I feel the offense strayed from the 'hot hand' too many times last year, just to give Bosh the chance to shine because he's the 'franchise guy'.

Simon Fraser's men's basketball team history page is empty.

1. Sam Mitchell was well liked by Larry T.
2. If Collangelo "had" to fire him, his hands were probably tied regarding his replacement. Of course he had to give the Canadian guy a shot.
3. BC hires Iavorroni as an assistant.

BC is just waiting for Triano to hurry up and fail so he can get his guy in place.
I'm convinced of that.

And with those two clips they show of Iavorroni in the exhibition pregame montage, I kind of like the guy. He's a big goof, with this intense, almost psychopathic side to him.

Triano is an underdog. If he can make it work, that's awesome. It will be a great story, and he'll probably be the coach of the Raptors for a long time.

Mabey his defence is not up to par but he looks mutch faster then last year. His had driven the lane right to the hoop more times this pre seson then all last season. He may not be the best yet at defence but the guy has picked up some speed, thats for sure

Whats wrong with our team right now? SOFTTTTT

Bosh, turk, bargnani, Calderon are all perimiter players first pretty much for the most part. Bargnani is getting better and better, soon he may be close to dirks level aside the boards.. now replace Bosh with a tough rebounding big man like shaq, howard, lee, etc. Now you have a good team, a tough big man surrounding by a dirk like player, an efficient guard, a good wingman in turk, and a deep, young and growing bench. DOnt get me wrong i like Bosh ( aside his 4th quarter hogging of the ball ) but hes gonna be traded .. hope bc sees it my way
