I want Ross to destroy him by holding him to 35% shooting like usual when he's in tough, and dropping 51 on him!

he'd better be, because he had issues in the regular season. Ross is going to be a great defender, but right now doesn't have the strength to defend big wings. I think DD may have to take on this assignment and we can use ross on dwill and live with lowry on livingstone.

I think we should try Ross on JJ and if he's getting abused then use your way

that's probably what we'll end up doing, doubt casey will change much in the first half of the first game. Playoffs are all about ulterior adjustments.

I agree that the Nets have been better. But who are these fans anyways? Their whole team and our city couldn't even sustain itself so it had to move to Brooklyn. I knew someone who went to a Raps game in Brooklyn early last year and some clowns were trying to start a fight with him for wearing his Raptors gear, and cheering for them. It was pretty surprising considering their team was like a month old at the time. How passionate can one be about a team that just moved into your town?

We're gonna go hard regardless, and for the Nets fans that think the pressure is on us, they're completely wrong. We don't have the highest payroll in the NBA. At the beginning of the season, no one expected us to be here. On the other hand, they were supposed to be a very good team. They did extremely well to come storming back, but they haven't been consistently good. Finished the season quite poorly. We'll have to wait in see if the Nets team people expected finally shows up in the playoffs. The Raps will be ready though.

I hope they feel like underdogs and come in with a chip on their shoulder despite being the higher seed. Let Brooklyn talk.

If Ross can't keep JJ in check DD has no chance at all. It will mean alot more Salmons so you better get ready for it!

I disagree, demar is a pretty good one on one defender against strong guys. He's tall and can bother shots without crowding and he won't be pushed easily in the post.

demar's problem is quick wings and wings that like to move a lot - he lacks both the lateral quickness and the ability/willingness to chase guys through screens. While JJ will, at times, use screens for catch and shoot, that's not his main bread and butter. And I'd rather have him run around to get free than to just abuse ross in the post.

The truth is, demar at the 3 and ross at the 2 is the ideal scenario for their strengths and weaknesses defensively. 1-2 years from now, ross will be a different guy and should become an elite defender at both positions, but he's not there yet.

However, I would prefer to see ross on deron and demar on JJ. Ross has the ability to shut down deron, which would be huge. If livingston abuses lowry with his size, so be it - doubt the nets can win any game where livingston is their top scorer ...

Nets

Game 1 tomorrow

Quote:
I think the Nets will take Game 1. I really believe this team understands that with all the rest and effort they put in to get this matchup, that they will come out firing and clamp down the Raptors defensively to make a statement.

Prediction for Game 1 Nets: 100 Raptors 90.

The Nets mentality has to be that they come with it EVERY game. We should try and take both games on their home court to really pressurize their young team.
Quote:
'm really nervous about our effort and intenisty. I can see it going either way. I can see it being the same team that slept walked through the bulls series last year and has struggle with it the past 2 seasons. I can Also see Pierce coming out like a mad man and the team really feeding off that. Hopefully its the ladders... cause Pierce playing like an all-star is one of the few things that could help us steal some road wins.

I worry about williams. He is a guy whose confidence admittedly goes at times. and he hasnt played well and lowry has had the better of him on most occasions, as well as vazques for what thats worth.

I also worry about our role players shooting on the road. which historically is not good for any role players over the past 20 years
Quote:
The Nets have been sleep walking for two weeks. If they win this game I'll be pleasantly surprised, but it usually takes these guys to get a foot put square up their ass before they start playing hard.

I am cautiously optimistic. I would be very optimistic with regard to beating this team from the third world if JKidd had not purposefully tanked since the 4th W VS Miami - thereby destroying rhythm & momentum. Dumb!

I just viewed the Raps board for the first time ever. They already have 1100 posts in the Game 1 game thread. LOL. Does all of freaking Canada root for this team? Vast number of immature teens.
