obviously rondo is an upgrade but at this point he isn't an amazing fit because that squad basically has zero outside shooting. it would force josh smith to take long jumpers which no one wants. they would have to acquire a couple knock-down shooters for a rondo trade to make a ton of sense.

So what you're saying is Rudy for monroe and fillers? Yes? Ok.

Can we stop with the Rondo talk?

He's an undersized PG that cant shoot and wouldn't help this team, more like hurt the team because there would be NO scorers. Knight is bigger, more athletic, better defender, and shoots better. I'd much rather have him

Knight is a career backup who has no defined NBA skill as of yet. Hes not a good passer, hes an average shooter at best, his defence isn't that good, and he's not a leader at PG. Comparing him to Rondo, let alone saying you'd much rather have him over Rondo is blasphemous.

Drummond on the other hand has shown flashes of becoming one of the best centers in the NBA very very soon. He's only 19 years old. You shouldn't be trading a player of his potential and talent level at that position for anything but the elite. That comment isn't out of this realm.

I could live with that if it means we could get in the lottery next year and tab an SF.

Trade proven soon too be hall of famers in their prime (or just entering) for a dude in his sophomore year that's shown flashes of being something? That comment was fine until he connected those names to it - absurdity at it's best.

You are probably reading it wrong. The guy didn't say that those players should be traded for Drummond.

BDL was comparing two post's on the Piston Board. The comment about Rondo was far more absurd that the comment about Drummond. That's all he was saying.

We were talking about the Pistons fan, not BDL.

Oh totally I get that. But Detroit fans clearly overrate Drummond as well as knight. I get he's great, has shown flashes of brilliance etc, but to say that you would only accept the top 2 players and another arguably top five for him is mind-blowingly dumb. Drummond has as much value to me as JV(maybe less due to him being Deandre Jordan-like on free throws) and I'd take a long hard look if offered a deal for any top 10-15 player who is not old or has health concerns. There is a difference between elite and guys who can be considered all-time greats.

My main point was it's not out of this realm that DET values Drummond so high, to a point where they wouldnt trade him unless its for one of the top 5-10 players in the NBA.

Whereas with the other comment, it's completely inconceivable that anyone would choose Knight over Rondo, thus the Knight comment being 10x worse than the Drummond comment.

Again, my comment was only the comparison of the two comments.

But I'm someone who is drinking the koolaid with Drummond. He displays all of the attributes and has all of the tools to become dominant, and be one of the top players in the NBA in the next few years. There aren't many 7 footers that have the athleticism, foot speed, quickness, agility and body he has combined into one. The last guy like him was Dwight essentially, and Dwight was a top 3 player for a few years. The thing that makes me believe in Drummonds potential is his quick learning curve and understanding of the game at a such a young age. He defended the pick and roll very well very quickly in his rookie year, and he was extremely impressive in the time I've watched him in defending without fouling, versus guards or inside. Plus he's already shown that he can control the paint on the defensive end with his ability to get to spots quicker than most of the league, and he's already adept on the offensive boards. Obviously his skill level on the offensive end needs to improve in terms of his moves in the paint(he does have a soft touch though), but with more minutes this year, I dont think its crazy to say that he averages 10+10+2+ blocks next year.

I would 100% agree with the drummond comment and partially with the rondo comment. While rondo is a massive upgrade over knight and you'd be nuts not to do that trade, he's obvioulsly a bad fit for them, long term. If they got gay instead of smith, it would be different, all they'd need would be a good 3pt shooting guard and rondo/drummond would lock down the D.

While Drummond is clearly not the 4th best player in the league, I wouldn't trade him either for anything but a superstar in their prime. I would absolutely consider other players beyond those 3, rose if healthy etc, but considering where detroit is, an upgrade of drummond to say someone like Bosh makes little sense. Yes, you're better now and for the next 2-3 years, but you're not a title team anyway.

Take JV for us, would you consider trading him for Bosh (or similar player) now? I bet 75% of the fans would not do that trade.
