Default What I've liked about Marcus Banks

Since Jose has gone down Banks has gotten some minutes. In the first couple of games he took some bad shots. He seems to have learned from that and has taken fewer poor shots and attacks the hoop more.

What I'm most impressed with though, is his defence. He picks his man up hard in the half court (at half rather than the three point line) which really helps the second unit's team defence in a few ways. First he makes the opposing point guard (usually their back up) work a little harder. Secondly, he picks his man up a good 10 feet outside the three point line instead of sitting at the three point line where the offence wants to work towards to initiate their offence. It helps push things away from our hoop, gives and gives our other players more time to react and rotate.

What drives me nuts is watching Jose play D. He gets down low (good), looks like he's digging in to make it tough (good), and then as soon as his match up starts moving towards the hoop he backs up until he gets caught up and lost in a screen. By then, we're backed in deep and the team doesn't have as much time to rotate. It causes us to foul more, allow a quick cut to the basket, and puts us out of position.

I'm not saying that Banks is NBA all D or anything. It's just nice to see him coming in off the bench working hard on that end of the floor. He gets beat, but not for the easy lay ups and dish offs that plague us when Jose is on the floor.

Yeah, that was great. It's been a long time since a Toronto player has done anything like that.
This team needs more of that kind of attitude.

Our point guards are our toughest players: Jose, Banks and Jack...

Which is why it will be interesting to see what will happen when Jose comes back. I sense a huge triple threat match, with Bargnani as special guest referee.

That was great to see. If it was Jose he would have helped Wallace up and dusted him off! Eff that!

I loved what Banks did. Send a message.

banks was a defensive specialist, so no surprise there. He's our best defender against quick PGs, jack is competent but struggles with them, jose is even worse. But he's very very limited on offense, I love the fact the he seems to finally understand his role and not foce too much, but I'm still skeptical it lasts ...

Wrong.....leading into this year only 2 players have shown any balls....Jose against ass hole Garnett and Bargs throwing Carter to the floor. Our Euro's get labelled as soft but on our team they are the toughest !

When we can list our "ball showing occurrences" on one hand, there's a problem.

I like that he hasn't been a complainer while not getting the playing time earlier, or demanding to be moved to somewhere that he could at least get garbage time.

Putting Banks & Bargnani in the same sentence makes absolutely no sense at all. So i'll give you a finger all right!

Banks plays the point guard position while Bargnani plays the center position.

Short sentence right there, make sense to anybody??
