Default What if the Raptors lose to Minnesota

What happens if we lose to the Wolves??

I mean, they beat the Jazz, but they have 3 wins total. I think that this game is more important than Milwaukee or Atlanta, this will show if we can put 3 solid games together.

Heres my take:

If we lose by more than 10 --> We are a bad team. Playoffs are not happening. Losing by 10 to a 3 win team is like saying that you can't put 48 minutes together for 3 straight games. Only bad teams play this inconsistently.

If we lose by less than 10 --> We lost one quarter - likely the 3rd - badly. Maybe a bad play or injury contributed. No reason to panic, but a loss is a loss. A must-win situation arises in Milwaukee the next game.

If we win by less than 10 --> We played poor defence and won by scoring. Shows that we aren't defensively intense game in and game out. But it shows the team can win the "supposed to win" games, which is a good sign.

If we win by more than 10 --> We have turned a corner. The Wolves suck, but we took advantage and won the game easily. We guarded them adequately and our offence was great. Good times ahead.

What do you think? Accurate? No? Why?

I agree that beating Minnesota at home is a must win situation. The Raps need to show that they can consistently maintain focus against a less talented team. I suspect Minnesota will play harder than Chicago did yesterday night. In fact, I think the T-Wolves were the first and only team to beat the Nuggets in Denver this season. Minnesota is not lacking in depth of talent and experience, but the players are well coached and they try.

I frequently don't put emphasis on the score, since soooo many variables can have an influence on why a team wins by 5 instead of 10 or 15. How the Raps play to obtain the win is more important to me than the margin they win by. Many times a winning team's lead falls under 10 in garbage time. The winner might be up by 15-20 most of the game, but then the other team goes on a run against the subs and cuts it down to 7 or 8 points in the last seconds. The final scores in NBA games can sometimes be misleading.

I'd throw the Hedo Bobblehead on to the court... that bobblehead is the only reason I'm going to the game too!

Doesn't matter the score, but there would be mass panic here if Raps lost

I don't care about the point differential, it's all about the win or the loss.

To me, this game is like that game last year against OKC, we had lost some games in a row going into that one, and that looked like one of the games where the team could have turned it around. After that game, you "knew" that it was going to be a rough season. To me, this game is like that.

I agree, the season will definitely come down to the point differential of the Minnesota game. I'd add a couple more point intervals though:

If the Raps lose by between 3 and 7 points ------> a wave of diarrhea will overtake the team in mid-April from which only Patrick O' Bryant, Marcus Banks, and Sonny Weems will emerge unscathed. Triano must thus resort to putting general manager Bryan Colangelo and Doug Smith of the Toronto Star at the forward positions, and Toronto will narrowly miss out on the playoffs despite Smith averaging a double-double throughout the remainder of the season.

If the Raps win by between 8 and 8.5 points ------> In an unprecedented move in NBA history, the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors will agree to swap records during the All-Star break, due to Doc Rivers' assertion that his players need an incentive to play harder. The Raptors also end up with the Celtics' 2012 1st round draft pick and cash considerations.

What happens if they lose you may ask? Everyone will flood this board with poignant lamentations, and in-discretionary remarks about Triano's coaching style and the lack of quality on this team. If we win, well all will be solved for the time being with that victory.

What happens if we lose to Minnesota? It probably means we'll beat Atlanta by 10+ and we'll all be bitching "if we can beat Atlanta why couldn't we beat Minnesota". Somehow i can see this scenario happening. It would be typical Raptor ball.

If the raps lose then it will be another 1 game added to the loss column.

If they win it will be another one added to the win column.

That is all.
