We have to take him and then trade some of our bigs

But he is 18, it'll be 2-3 seasons until he can contribute properly

It would be the same situation as when we took Ed Davis. You've got to take the best talent available, especially for a team that's still trying to find it's identity.

A Drummond-Jonas frontcourt could be defensively unbeatable, and you take a shot on that. Even if it means a couple years of hurting in the meantime.
Love this idea.

i was very surprise by that perspective. to e he will be gone. SAC needs a center and Portland too.
but if this is the case for us, i will take it.
1. casey will put him + JV in competition for minutes at 5, and they will develop together.
2. Best potential available.

but i fear he will not become a d12, more a K Brown.

to me, Lilliard/rivers at 8# are the BPA.

Hes not a center, I don't think anybody expected him to be like Dwight Howard. If anything hes an Amare Stoudemire type player.

I think he could very well end up being a C... his athleticism and size would warrant it.

We have a future C in JV and Bargs is our starting PF. Drummond has some glaring gaps that will hurt him at the NBA level

We trade the pick to someone that will overpay if he falls on draft day. Because if he falls someone will do exactly that, but we don't want.

If Drummond is on the board, you take him... but in my opinion, only as an asset.

If I'm BC, I prepare for this scenario, because even though the first 7 teams may pass on him, there has GOT to be a team somewhere that is enamoured with him, and hopefully that team has some good trade assets.

I think that you always take the BPA at this point, however, you can trade him until he has signed his rookie contract. My guess is that if Drummond falls to the Raps @8, there will be teams on the phone with the Raps in the draft room, trying to trade for his rights. You take him, and dangle him to the team with the best offer.

Why trade him?
We have plenty of other assets to work with as far as trades go...
