Ummmm... how exactly?

Their numbers are almost identical to what they were when they were on their own.

You want to know what bullshit is? How about this idea that he went to the media to announce that he wanted to be considered MVP? Bullshit. I saw it with my own eyes. He was asked if he ever thought about having those considerations as a goal, in light of the fans chanting M-V-P. He hesitantly answered that before the season began he put it in his own mind as a goal, but that it would require results in terms of winning as a team.

And Kobe? I believe he cleaned out his locker and told his fans that he was leaving. Way to handle those issues.
what he did in those past 2 years was not relevant for the upcoming season. and he didn't carry them there at all. he had a decent, well-rounded team. they did it together. and then they folded together in the playoffs like a cheap suit.

and that's the whole issue - togetherness. we can see the way it's coming out now - Bosh was not a togetherness kind of guy. he was ann individual, a guy that you didn't notice in the lockerroom, a star that didn't make his teammates better. and so when the media guy comes to ask him about those goals he gave a response that was about him.

and to connect this to bjjs's point about social media - most guys don't do that stuff. some do, and it is rarely the guys we look to as leaders and true pros. this is exactly the issue with bosh. he took the mantle as the go-to guy, but didn't pick up all the requisite pieces like leadership. and when the going got tough, despite many assurances to the contrary, Bosh got going.

lx - you are right about kobe wanting to bolt, but that wasn't really what we were discussing. =what he didn't do was talk about individual accolades and recognition. he just said that he didn't want to be part of a rebuild. that was direct and truthful. i wish i could say the same about bosh.

I don't get this point of view - why do players have to hate each other to be super competitive?

I have a very competitive nature, and I'm most competitive when playing (any kind of game) against close friends. It's a lot harder to lose to a friend, because they will brag to no end. The only thing worse than losing to a friend is to lose to a bitter enemy (and I don't think Bosh qualifies for this label).

For me, what I don't want to see is happy faces if we lose this game. I'm all for opposing players respecting each other and shaking hands and hugging and all that (if that's what they wish). On the other hand, seeing players on a losing team laughing pretty much proves beyond doubt that those players don't give a shit about winning.

I'm pretty sure all that buddy-buddy pre-game stuff gets thrown out the window once the game starts. During the game all you think about is basketball and beating your opponent.

So they've made some huge "sacrifice" because they've agreed to share the spotlight in MIA?

If you say so...

This is pisses me off TBH.... People look to put their negative spin on EVERY article about Bosh that comes out. So he wasn't KG in the lockerroom.... who cares??? How many players (esp. big men) are actually like that? The guy busted his ass game in and game out and in spite of what you may think YES, he made his teammates better (how many open shots do you think he created for guys just by being on the floor? How many 2nd shots did he create or prevent with his rebounding?).

I honestly don't understand why this is even a debate at all.... we're TERRIBLE without Bosh. Flat out terrible. We have almost as many losses right now as we had all of last season! If that's not proof of Bosh's value then I don't know what is...

when you compete with your friends in anything like sports, games, school grades, etc you're still going to try hard. It's not like hating on some person will make you any better.

no you questioned it without reading what I even wrote. You were so quick to disclaim it, you didn't even allow for a possibility that you might be wrong. Why post if you're always right... go do a blog.

there you go getting angry again...

where did i ever say Bosh didn't have value?

if Bosh wanted to be the #1 guy, which he stated pretty explicitly that he wanted, then he should be expected to do more than play ha5rd on the court. that's what #1 guys do, and that's exactly wht Bosh never understood. maybe he wasn't #1 material, but it's not like the situation was forced on him the way it has been with bargs. he wanted it. he asked for it, and he didn't deliver leadership. and the management and coaches have talked openly about pushing him to get more of thet, only it never came.

and this is a huge part of making your teammates better. sure, he is talented and that created some openings, but that's not the same thing as making your teammates better.

this debate had nothing to do with talent as a basketball player, so i have no idea where you are going with that. there is much more to being a franchise guy than just putting up numbers.

I did read what you wrote.... but it was an easy point to disclaim given that I watched the Heat play on several occasions this season.

I allowed you the opportunity to elaborate on your point and provide your reasoning... you didn't.... so why are you mad at me?

The problem is SOME Hockey fans always compare other sports to Hockey and other athletes to Hockey players. And if an athlete isn't a meathead that wants to fight someone they're pussies and if they shake hands before a game, they're.....well, pussies i suppose for not wanting to knock someone's block off before tip off. They have a problem embrassing the sport, it's athletes or it's culture when certain aspects of the game or personalities don't resemble hockey in one shape or form and it gets criticized.
I mean really, starting a thread because the players shake hands before a game?

it's not about "shaking hands".... they joke around like bosom buddies, sharing laughs and jokes and whatever.... just minutes before tipoff. that's all well and good for a game of pickup at the gym, not at an elite level where mental toughness is often as important as athleticism.

and i hardly think hockey is the only sport where this doesn't happen... could you imagine that kind of crap going on before an nfl game?

I want fans to bring the hate tonight. Get personal with Bosh with the chants. Remind him he's a dead beat dad.

Let him know that he's a nobody and is being exposed this year. Call him Ru-paul.

Bosh is the biggest loser in pro-sports outside of A-Rod.

Bitter much?
Get over it, he is a great ball player. You would be ignorant to deny this.

Maybe it's just me but i could care less. And if it bothered me that much i'd watch Two and a half men until 7:10 and skip anything before the tip off. Seriously, all i give a fuck about is the game itself. Let them exchange family pictures before the game for all i care.
