I can remember him comparing himself to the best players in the game. To the Lebrons and Wades and Carmelos. Bosh sure talked a good game, but when push came to shove he just didn't do enough on the court to deserve to get the kind of recognition he himself literally begged for.

As for the MVP- MVP sillyness, well let's just chalk that up to the Toronto fans being nice.

I'd be more concerned if he didn't think he was on that level when he was here.

Everyone scoffed when Pierce compared himself to MJ and saying that he was better. Great players compare themselves to the best as a benchmark.

Averaging 24 and 10 isn't enough?

Reaching the playoffs isn't enough?

If it wasn't for Billups being dealt to Denver, Denver possibly doesn't make the playoffs and become a mid-tier western conference team.

If it wasn't for the theft of Pau Gasol, Bryant gets dealt out of LA. LA becomes fodder yet again for the elite of the west.

If it wasn't for O'Neal in 2006 playing at an MVP level, Wade doesn't win anything and history could be different.

We had ONE piece. Where was that second piece that the other elite talent received? When Boston added KG and Allen to Pierce we added.....Jason Kapono? Really? That's what we added?

I get that Bosh wasn't the saviour. I get that. But he was a piece towards something and we squandered it away.

barely making the playoffs a couple of times wasn't enough to compare yourself to the best players in the game, no.

but, truth be told, i don't give a crap about whether or not he considered himself at that level. i think fans should give him a rough ride because it benifits our team to make our home court an inhospitable place to play. i still think wolf howls are more appropriate than boos, but fans will do whatever they want. that's what being a fan is all about.

and i don't hesitate to point to soccer as a sport where fans get actively involved, show undying support for their club and show complete disdain for former players who left the club high and dry.

hostile environments. there's no denying how big an impact that can have. sometiomes it works in reverse, but you still gotta show no mercy.

I agree.

People say what has Bosh done, the real question is what has the franchise done? BC tried by swinging for the fences, but just struck out.

At least Chicago has surrounded Rose with Noah, Boozer and alot of good complimentary players.

Even Blake Griffin has a young star wing player like Eric Gordon, a promising young center like DeAndre Jordan, and good young players Bledsoe, Aminu.

Damn you for bringing up soccer. I still have no use for Adebayor....

I'd be fine with creating an inhospitable environment like a college basketball atmosphere. Completely fine. But it has to be consistent, every game, every play etc. That's creating a fun atmosphere to be a fan in.

The fact that we only do it for, well, one game, is meh.

I remember people in Chicago were freaking out over the Noah pick. That was a risky pick at the time. Boozer was a nice pick up for them.

And yes, Blake has Gordon and the jury is still really out on Jordan. The Clippers have a long way to go still before I commit to saying they're unlike Toronto.

if it was the same 19800 people showing up every night that might be possible. but we're talking about nearly 20000 individuals here, who may or may not have attended other games previously. people are going to react based on how they have interpereted events. some will boo, some will cheer, some will be indifferent. but i'm not going top hold the booers to account for anything but being a fan and reacting in their own way when sitting in their own seats. if we build up a culture of a hospitable environment then great. if not, then people will be free to do whatever they want.

And who said he was supposed to make those around him better? Hell name me a PF/C who makes players around him better? I can think of really only KG while playing for Boston and there's a reason for that.

And this whole idea of running away? How often, in your own life, do you stay with one company? The average time is what, 5-7 years? Why do we hold athletes in this different pedestal?

Hell, I don't even like Bosh and thought he was overrated, but some of the comments directed to him are ridiculous.

If by fanboy I am level headed, then well, thank you.

Hell, I don't get how some of the anti-Bosh guys here are pro-Bargnani guys? It's mind boggling.

I honestly don't see teams mingling before games. I've only been to two games in the last two years, but the teams come out, warm up on opposite ends with the officials stretching in the middle.

The starting 5s shake hands at tip-off. Common courtesy, that's tradition in basketball on all levels.

Bosh isn't the guy they need to worry about making feel uncomfortable anyways.

When Kobe, Wade and KG all missed the playoffs or BARELY made the playoffs when they were the only stars on their squads.... did you hold them as accountable?

That's exactly what I mean.

Lord knows LX and I have taken a beating over these past 6 months or so for saying pretty much the same things that you're saying now.

It's nice to hear someone else echo those sentiments.

I don't care what you do BEFORE the game or AFTER the game.... just as long as you're kicking ass DURING it.

The Celtics shake hands and hug their opponents too pre-game... that doesn't stop them from beating the shit out of you (and taslking trash while they do it) though.

They usually don't kick ass during it. They help their opponents up off the floor, for Pete's sake. Or do that, "My bad!" thing after they've fouled someone. You ain't bad.
