What happened to our TPE?

From the bosh deal, did it expire? I don't remember using all of it. Could have come in handy when trying to sign Chandler, what a waste.

box92 03-03-2012 02:49 AM

yes i believe it expired

neojiphre 03-03-2012 04:37 AM

It expired already? What a fucking moron BC is, couldn't even get much out of Bosh despite his rep

halphbreedballer 03-03-2012 08:20 AM

I believe Cleveland's expired too..
We should Have took Beasely off Miami's hands asside from some off court issues he's still a solid SF/PF

We used the TPE to absorb James Johnson, Jerryd Bayless and Ajinca. Not a complete waste. We did indeed have about 9 million dollars of it left, but we effectively have that much in cap space this summer, so it would have disappeared then anyway. It expired this fall, but even if we had had it. we would not have been able to use it to sign Chandler, as by the time he got his clearance letter, sign and trades were no longer allowed.

Wasn't the TPE extended once the lockout was over?

It wouldn't have been extended more than a week or two... it was set to expire shortly after the CBA date anyways.

Yes, sorry, I associate the start of the season with "this fall" for some crazy reason - the deadline for exceptions that expired during the lockout was extended to a week after the lockout was lifted. It expired mid-late December.

This team will never spend any money so the TPE was just a waste of time for the most part

It helped get JJ so I'd say it was a good thing

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 03-03-2012 03:33 PM

Random, but I remember people in the raptors community saying that: J.Wright is better than JJ and it was a shame he wasn't kept.

This team has never had a problem spending to and beyond the cap.

Complete waste of what exactly? Bosh was walking anyway, so we gave up... nothing. What exactly strikes you as moronic in this scenario?

We should have took bealsey and chalmers but then again hindsight is 20/20.

if we took beasley, do you really think we'd have gotten the 5 pick? Or seen bargs progress like he did this year? or demar for the better part of last season? i'd take all those things over beasley. He is what he is, a cancer.

Really, beyond the cap huh. If they go over buy a few hundred thousand by accident that dosnt count. You can't deny this team never spends money when it needs to. If it did we would have actually been good at some point over the last 5 years.

Over the last 5yrs prior to this season we've been in the 65Mil + payroll, several times we were up just under the tax. In 08-09 I think we were around 70Mil with JO on the books. As for this season, if you expect us as a rebuilding team to spend over the cap that would be extremely bad business, and simply stupid. Spending has never been the issue for this team, it's been who they spend it on based on their options and having to overpay. Unless you argue that we should be a tax team, which no non-contending team does anyway. You don't go over the tax to try and contend, you go over when you're already there.
