Default What happened to Alexis Ajinca?

Did they just not like him? I'm sure Casey could get more out of him than Bargnani.
Bargnani still has some value, which could easily evaporate if Casey really means business, which means Bargnani will play 10-15 min/game, averaging 6pts and 0,6 rebounds, which will make it impossible to even get 2-3 decent picks in return.
Alabi, Maglore and Ajinca. Strength, experience and length. The most difficult position would look ok.
I just can't imagine how we're gonna attack with AB at PF. Many teams go small and a decent SF or PF has no problems defending AB inside or outside. On the other hand Bargnani was pretty effective outside when defended by Cs, but they had to "broaden" his game. Well, loads have been said already..
It appears as though there's nothing Raptors really want/can get for AB right now. But we want another plug C this year, so why not reintroduce a familiar face Ajinca? Sorry to mention AB so much, but it's the only part that can bring us a profitable change.
What do you think?

seriously? Don't let rhetoric fool you... Ajinca is nowhere near Bargnani despite the hate on this forum.

i like Bargnani and i think he's gonna blow up this year... but there were quite a few nights Ajinca was flat out better than il Mago. hahahaha.

Casey has seen plenty of Ajinca. He was a Mavs no? If he thought anything of him he'd be back. Instead they are looking at players that can defend, balancing out years of accumulating players like Alexis that had a knack offensively. I heard Colangelo talking about Casey implementing a system that emphasized defense, and I swear the word defense seemed to almost make him vomit. It sounded like he was telling his wife that he hated the high collars she always picks out for him.

Ajinca plays in France
He did want to come back to Raptors but I guess Casey knows his abilities and didn't want him here.

Oh god. You so funny.
1. Getting more out of Ajinca than Bargnani? I can't even start to say how retarded that sounds. I fear a gust will come through the ACC and blow Ajinca away, let alone him do anything effective.

2. in 10-15 minutes Bargs will grab around 2-3 boards. I know it doesn't add up in your math, but thats real life right there.

3. If you SERIOUSLY think that Bargnani isn't attractive to other teams, then I don't know what to say. If a broken T-Mac can sign, a 20ppg scorer can be useful trade bait.

4. In 66 games he averaged 21 points. We played every team in the league at least once. If you watched a Raptors game you can see he's an effective scorer MOST of the time. He scores plenty against top PF's and C's.
VS. BOS 29 pts
VS. UTA 26 pts
VS. PHI 30 pts
VS. OKC 26 pts
VS. CHI 24 pts
He can score against any team.

By the way, I don't even like AB all that much.

EDIT: And if you think picks is all we will get for Barfnani then... I have no words.

We got Ajnca from the Mavs with that Peja ordeal, and Casey was their assistant. Ajnca was stuck on the bench with the Mavs, and he had garbage minutes with us on a crappy team. Even if he wanted to come back he'll have to show us that he can make the roster. And to be honest the games I saw him, I didnt really see anything special about him. He sure loves to shoot a ton of 3s and he's not a great shooter but for someone his size, its passable. Ill prefer Magloire, alabi and Gray over him

i think ajinca has all what he need to be a decent center.
the thing is, he is not enough mature in his body to be ready yet.
i seen him in french league and he do great right now.
he needs more minutes where he is to get better. more he can play and prove himself, more he can return to the NBA for a real backup spot at center.
he has the size, the scoring ability, and showed to us some defense skill. some alright, not many, but much than barg last year for sure.

in 2 years i can see a nba team pick him from europe to be a backup center (not the 3rd, but the 2nd center on the team).

i hope him the best. and to come back in toronto if all what i predict to him happe.

He does have size I grant him that

It was funny when he substtuted in for Bargnani and got offensive rebounds - in virtually same situation where Bargs would not - by simply raising his arms
