Default What do you guys think is holding Demar DeRozan back

I thought this would be an interesting question to get different opinions, although I am not sure if its worth its own thread so sorry if its not. Anyway in your opinion, what has been holding DD back recently? One thing that comes to mind is Alan Anderson's emergence might have something to do with it. It feels like its been forever since we've seen DD with a stellar game.

What's your opinion?

I feel like he needs the ball too much on offense. The team has grasped the idea of sharing the ball recently, and DeMar is most effective when he has the rock in his mitts. When he doesn't get his touches, he's pretty useless out there. And with limited touches means DeMar is going to try forcing things on every possession to make things happen.

the refs. seriously the kid gets hacked so many times each game without calls that he ends up getting frustrated and relying ton jumpshots or just passing it off. bball iq is there for him. stellar post game. lacking consistent mid range j which he had 2nd season (needs to get that back) but mainly the refs. fuck the refs

Maybe, he isn't the player of your expectations.

Maybe he's some good, some bad and lacks the imagination to adapt his game to what the defence is giving him on any night.

Maybe he thinks he has to have the stat's his contract calls for and he's playing to try and justify it.

Maybe, he is what he is.

handles in moments where his defender really challenges him, iq in terms of passing it out of a double team instead of forcing a shot or making a turnover

Shooting ability behind the arc. He looks slow and sluggish at times, and compare to Ross he does not look that much of dunk-freak anymore.

His "hops" are fine, if there's one thing DeMar is, he's a wonderful atheletic specimen.

Ross has much better hops then DD. In terms of hops DD is just slightly above the NBA average.

Overall, I think he just needs to play smarter and not force things.

it seems like that everything he does doesn't fit well with overall team concept in the offense

all his shots are difficult, and he seems to take bad ones, hunting his shot takes way to much time

in the meantime jamal crawford can find a shot in a split second

also other reasons, he has bad shot mechanics which leads to a inconsistent jumper, has terrible hands, no court awareness, and his defense is weak

its hard to justify the money we signed him for, he needs to come off the bench as a energy guy

Going by Pre-Draft measurements Terrence is at 37.5" max and DeMar is an inch higher than him. But Ross is more explosive imo.

Yah I thought from watching video & highlights from before we drafted him that he was going to have near VC like hops but I just haven't seen any hops really...
Even in the Dunk competition he didn't jump that much higher.

& again I'm still waiting for him to windmill dunk in a game. I don't think it's going to happen.

well.. DD is not aggressive enough, AA is.. and looks for his offense, Derozan plays careful basketball on the court, hardly forces anything..

he better pick it up, because all it takes is for Ross to put together a solid string of games for the sg controversy to start
