Amir and Ed Davis = New twin towers?! Should Bargs come off the bench and play a Rasheed Wallace type role and jack 3's like in his rookie year? I'm definitely liking the blocking and rebounding a lot more than Andrea's total offense.

What do you guys think?

Im thinking you are not serious. The Mavs game was great and these guys definately are fighters, but you wont win many games if neither of your bigs is a threat to score.

I think either one of them are better off paired with Bargs.

Pretty hard to tell the best player on your team to take a back seat, so i will also have to object to this idea.

I'll also second both guys being good compliments to Bargnani's game. Davis and Johnson seem pretty similar to me. Nice that they were effective together last night, but one game doesn't make a whole season.

Davis has a lot more potential to be a defensive threat.
If he can learn Amirs hussle. Then watch out. Amir has a beautiful touch inside too.

if they are the new twin towers than these towers must have been built in like a day
not only are they not even close to being as good defensively as the real deal, neither of them has an offensive game
i'm guessing when you say twin towers that amir is david robinson and davis is tim duncan
just look at it, its really an insult to either of those guys to compare amir and davis to them, both those guys are previous MVPs and defensive players of the year, david robinson is like 1 of the most versatile and high level centers of all time while tim duncan is arguably the greatest power forward of all time
i literally don't even see any resemblance, amir can't even stay out of foul trouble to stay on the court most nights!

I don't see how they are the new twin towers because neither one is 7 feet tall

My recollection of twin towers is two 7 footers...

I'm just sayin

alright alright I get it, the Twin Towers comparison is unfair to the original Towers. I guess it's just me who likes the help defense that Davis brings. But I wasn't saying bench Andrea the whole game, instead come off the bench (still get his 30+ minutes) but it'll be against second unit guys, and he'll still be playing with either Amir or Davis when he comes in. Rasheed Wallace was very effective when he was in Boston in this role.
I thought it was common knowledge that Defense wins ball games...that's why I think it's better for a defensive front court to set the tone of a ball game and let Andrea do his work against 2nd units or tired 1st units.

I enjoy watching 5 defenders on the court together who force the issue in the paint offensively.

It doesn't surprise me our best game of the season came with Bargnani out of the lineup.

You realize we have no scoring threat without Bargnani?

This is what I've been saying for awhile. It would take a lot of pressure of Bargnani and Triano. If Bargs doesn't have it going, he can play limited minutes. If the team is really struggling offensively, he can come off the bench with the confidence to put a shot up every time he has a look at the basket. And if the ball is dropping for him, he can still get 35 minutes off the bench.

Shots were actually contested inside last night. A team actually had to make tough shots from the perimeter for once to beat us, and unfortunately for the Mavs, those shots weren't dropping.

Well Bargnani will still get his 30+ minutes off the bench against second unit guys nonetheless.

So you're wrong...

It's a foolish idea. One game doesn't make a season, but it is nice to see the frontcourt of this team beginning to emerge. As Acie said earlier, pairing each guy with AB is a much better fit, but clearly being able to play these guys together for stretches will only help this team too.

If our wing positions can be solidified, either through growth or trade, this team has the makings to be very good down the road.

Bargnani's defense is allot better this year from last. He is improving every year.
He will be an allstar in about a year or so. What people fail to realize that centres ussually take allot longer to develope than other positions. Rarely do you see a Howard, or Shaq come into their own in the first few years of being in the game.
Not only that, but Barney had to overcome entering the NBA from a Europe style game, as well as play a position which was not his ussual position.

I think people dont give the big guy enough credit.
It was probally the wrong thread to vent all that, but hey.

Well look at this season

Andrea: 27 Games played, 19 total blocks in 34 mins/game
Ed Davis: 14 Games played, 12 total blocks in 20 mins/game
Amir Johnson: 31 games played, 34 total blocks in 23 mins/game

Bargnani may not be bad, but Davis and Johnson are way better...
