What do you expect to happen by the trade deadline?

-What will Colangelo do?
-Who will be moved?
-What big players will be moved throughout the league?
-What surprise moves will possibly be made?
-Will Melo finally be dealt?

Predict....

Predict....

BC will trade Jose to minny for flynn & fillers
Then trade Evans & our miami 1st for Casspi & J. Thompson
Then BC will include our 13 million dollar PTE & Peja's expiring contract into the mix for a record 7 team trade which involves CLE PHI NY DEN DAL & NJ for Melo,s services...

If out of all that you mean we get melo too, then that would be an amazing sequence... lol

A center. No more undersized bigs playing the 5. Let the center be Bargs/new aquisition/Alabi. Let the PF spot be Amir/Davis/Dorsey. All year.

I expect Colangelo to make either 2 medium-ish moves, or 1 large-ish move. Remember, he's in a contract year too, and although the team has somewhat exceeded expectations (as opposed to challenging for the worst record of all-time), he still wants to leave a good impression with the board, and get extended.

The Raptors have a TON of assets too, with young players, expirings totalling over $20 million, and the TPE.

My guess is that Colangelo will make 2 medium-ish trades that net the team some more prospects (probably on rookie scale contracts), but doesn't swing for the fences, with the unknown CBA coming into effect. He'll want to round out the roster a little bit more, but not take on HUGE contracts.

As for the rest of the league, I expect a REALLY busy lead up to the trade deadline, as some teams want to add a ton of talent to win it all this year, and hope that some of the contracts they take on get "grandfathered" into the new CBA.

i would seriously hope colangelo doesn't swing for any fences. With the way things are playing out right now, we stand to get at least one good player with the potential to be very good for nothing. Any trade should not decrease the chance of that happening.

Nope Melo is not going to in be in Toronto but Iggy could...

all rumors talk about cleveland helping nets to get melo, but i think toronto with his tpe and the peja or evans contract can help to make that melo trade.
but what can possibly toronto get from nuggets other than melo (who don't will to come here, it's a garantee) and what will we want from NEts (exept maybe lopez).
and we have 2 1st round pick this year, so i think that make us more likely in this trade. but i fear one of our propect must go in this. i want not that happen.
keep all the youngth and get ride of caldy, kleiza, bargs, peja and evans, or the tpe because they have value i suppose for some team. you can add weems or alabi too.

i think that make some value to put on trade list.

but what we need in return ?
a true center, a study pg and a productive sf.
oh wait, that what most of the teams need too !

so i expect some move, but i expect BC to not commit to go on play-offs this year and make some shitty trade to get a star or something like that.
we need more guys like bayless. young, still in their draft contract, who don't play enough because of a star in their team, and who need to show other that he can do it.
i want young players who want to be in toronto and think of that as an opportunity !

In all honesty, I want nothing to happen.

With a new CBA to be in place, whatever that may look like, I'd want this team to maintain financial flexibility until that is done. It would be just like a Toronto team to go out and try to acquire a big name player who couldn't get it done somewhere else and is coming into a rebuilding situation.

Really, Colangelo should do very little unless he's able to shred long term contracts for short term or expiring deals or getting draft picks that he could use in the future.

As for Melo, he'll be dealt this month to New Jersey.

surreyjack 01-04-2011 04:05 PM

Melo coming to TO is a pipe dream. If he wants to go to a good team that's rebuilding, it'll be the nets. Better coach, better players etc but I think he wants to go to a team that are already contenders. I'd love to see him on the Bulls.

I want to see Reggie Evans and Peja get traded, for anybody. We already have Baby Dwight Howard and Davis that can do what Reggie does, AND score.

1-What will Colangelo do?
2-Who will be moved?
3-What big players will be moved throughout the league?
4-What surprise moves will possibly be made?
5-Will Melo finally be dealt?

1-Nothing big, some adjustements, another young asset I hope.
2-Weems, Reggie, Calderon
3-Stephen Jackson, B Davis, Zach Randolph, Iguodala, Devin Harris, Jamison, Melo, Al Harrigton, Mo Williams, Magette, Salmons, Yao, Anthony Randolph, Okafor?
4-Chris Paul to Denver lol
5-NJ

I really hope Colangelo trades Bargnani, Johnson, DeMar, Barbosa and Ed Davis and our TPE and brings back Jermaine O'Neal, Andray Blatche, Michael Redd, Caron Butler and Rashard Lewis. Let's nab Fran Vazquez's rights from Orlando while we're at it.

Now that's a team to contend with! They'll have chemistry (because they'll be in street clothes most nights), they're pretty much all paid what the market dictated (5 years ago), and they're big names. Wooo!

FoldedLaundry 01-04-2011 08:16 PM

Hopefully some young players or good draft positions. I hope for an upgrade at the C and SF

Truth is, none of us know what's going to happen, as there are too many unknowns. Do league / team officials already know what the NBA is willing to accept on issues such as a hard/soft cap, max player/team salaries, rookie contracts, the number of grandfathered contracts/team, etc. Only then, can anyone, including BC, really predict what the raps should do.

My guess is that no one has a clue at this point, so a conservative stance would be to keep the team's financial flexibility and not take on long-term contracts... unless those long-term contracts come with hard to pass up young talent.

If a hard cap does come in, and teams need to shed salary, there may be some really good talent available to create a good team. Tanking now, and setting yourself up to get a number 1 pick while maintaining significant financial flexibility brings us right back to where we were when BC was first hired. That would suck, but, I'd rather be there, than where we are now.

Mayo to the Bulls :yeah: :dancing:
