Default What do we need?

Ok, let's analize what we have talent wise on the roster as currently constructed. Position by position:

PG. Jose-Jack-Banks (Good talent, lack defensive awareness/toughness)

SG. Derozan-Belinelli (talented, yes. But very young at 20 & 23yrs old and at times inconsistent )

SF. Turkoglu-Wright-Weems (Good talent, should be better then they've shown. Weems has been a pleasant surprise so far, but again is another young player being asked to do too much)

PF. Bosh-Amir-Evans (Our deepest, most consistent position)

C. Bargnani-Amir-Rasho-POB (lack of rebounds from Bargnani's 33mpg, he's not consitent, tough enough yet but still very young)

So imo, unless everyone is willing to have 2-3yrs patience with Derozan this team desperately needs an experienced SG that can play D. And unless Bargnani can improve his toughness at both ends he just may need to be moved. But one running theme is pretty consistent here, the players being relied upon the most on this team are all 25-under.

Bosh(25)-Bargnani (24)-Jack (25)-Amir(22)- Beli(23)-Derozan(20)

Can this team be pretty good if given time and patience? Is it that far off from being a good team, say with a few minor additions? Or do we need yet another recontsruction. Or simply blow it up?

They need balance in the 3-5 spots.
Either pair Hedo and Bargnani with an absolute beast inside,
Or trade Bargnani or Hedo for a physical, aggresive defender who plays both ends in the paint.

Can Evans play the 3 ?? We don't need him to score but to play tough d and rebound ?? Hedo is usually the first guy on the bench from the starting 5 and usually its early so I say Evans comes in as our 6th man to sub in for Hedo.

Would like to see Evans , Bosh and Bargs on the floor at the same time. Keep Amir in his present rotation .

The team could probably use an upgrade at the 2. They're not getting nearly enough from such a key position.

What the team really needs is a personality transplant.
Maybe some more testosterone.

Wait for Derozan to become good and pray that CB sticks around.

in the meantime, trade Bargnani. He would excel with a guy like Lebron James who does everything on both ends and Bargnani just needs to camp out at the 3 and pull their centre out while knocking down open shots.

Derozan's dunk last night had a bit of a Carter flare to it, don't you think?

I believe in him. The only reason I wanted to draft him because he seemed to play like Vince a little in his year of College and he can jump out of the gym. A 20 year old can develop a jumpshot. A 24 year old Italian center can't develop hops... or an ability to rebound.

and I still refer to him as heir Canada... just not on this board.. because of the bitterness people still have for Carter.

I love his personality. He was pissed last night sitting on the bench not playing in the fourth. He often is, he wants to be out their helping his team.

He's starting because this team isn't that good. For that reason alone he should also be getting more minutes throughout the game.

Might as well bring him along quickly. The quicker the better imo.

I've been saying this for a while: We need to trade Bargnani and fillers for a Brendan Haywood or Kendrick Perkins type player so that Bosh will feel less of a work load on the defensive end of the floor and can focus on scoring and rebounding, his areas of expertise.

No one is going to touch Hedo at his age and with his contract... so it's either Bargs or Jose.

At this point Bargs is starting to give us some defense so you could argue that keeping him makes sense.... but Jose's role has pretty much been taken over by Hedo.... great passer who can score who needs to dominate the ball. He's become redundant (as much as I hate to admit it). And with the way that Banks is playing.... just makes Jose even more expendable.

If only we could've dealt Jose to GS for SJax.... that would have been GREAT.

Not that I would jump as this deal, but I also wouldn't dismiss his idea so easily.

First of all, Yao is only 29 and has a history of foot problems - not knee problems and last I checked Jose isn't exactly the healthiest cat in the world either and he's signed for another four seasons. I'd send Yao to Big Z's doctor and then if it doen't pan out his 17.6 million comes off the books at the end of next season.
