Detroit game, team is down by 1 point, 2 possessions in a row Lowry takes the ball up the court, his teammates with their hands in their air waiting for a pass, yet Lowry has only one thing in mind: "I'm taking the shot"

A Bargs fan complaining about a guy shooting too much.

Oh the irony.

The shots per game chart:

1) Derozan: 15.4
2) Bargnani: 15.2
3) Lowry: 12
4) Calderon: 8.2

At the begining of the season nobody would have had an issue with that shot distribution whatsoever. Too many shots my left nut.

But everyone had their hands up!

There's no doubt that Lowry shouldn't force too many shots late in games. He will have to develop more trust in his teammates. But that doesn't mean he gets to be defined as selfish here on in. Not yet. Not by a long shot.

Yep. No arguments here.

I have and others have said this, but early on in games he's been passive and passing just fine. And a lot of the times we'd have a lead when he'd come out late in the first. The bench was coming in and stinking out the joing and he'd come back in with a deficit, then Bargnani was bricking shots which then got Lowry and Derozan forcing shots.

Also, something Casey said today makes complete sense, the way we were losing games early, coupled with key injuries killed whatever moral this team got going in training camp/pre-season and early season chemistry which was clearly there. And all that slowly killed the team's confidence and players stopped talking on the floor (starters & bench) and weren't trusting each other. And now that the schedule eases up a little + a lot of home games the team sees a clear opportunity to make some ground up. And Casey said the other night after the Dallas game "you don't play defense you don't play". Don't know what took so long for him to say that to them and start enforcing it but he is now and it shows. It looks like we're starting to finally see some accountability we were seeing last season.

Lowry's selfishness comes from wanting to win; so I'm not sure I would really say he's selfish.

What will be interesting is how Lowry handles coming off the bench, if he does come off the bench because his professionalism and attitude in such situations hasn't been great in the past.

He needs to come in, lay the gauntlet down, remind Jose that this winning streak came during a favourable part of the schedule, lock him down in practice and earn his starting spot back - then all will be fine.

Then he needs to focus on being a defensive leader in the games. Offense coming second.

Casey needs to create a situation where these guys are going to kill eachother in practice. Davis. lowry. calderon. bargnani. field, anderson. That's what happens on good teams. Fights in practice happen because practice is competitive.

If your bench players are satisfied being bench players on a 6-19 team - something is seriously wrong.
Who wants it more??? This questions has been irrelevant for the past three years. Alan Anderson wants it.

We trade Bargs, if the price is right.

I know BC's an idiot when it comes to overpaying for FA, but I think he won't sucumb to pressure as easily as Babcock. He's going to get a decent return.

YES, derozans ahead of bargnani, trade bargs

Raptors1995 12-18-2012 01:13 AM

Come trade deadline:

Bryan Colangelo was busy fielding trade calls for Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon, but nothing was done.

Bryan, "We had a lot of inquiries, but it didn't make sense for the long-term health of the franchise."

Raptors1995 12-18-2012 01:14 AM

Goes on to say....."Look we have a great group of guys, the talent is definitely there. We're 5 games out of the playoffs and if we can make a nice run down the stretch, we're right there."

Deez 12-18-2012 10:13 PM

Are Lowry and Bargnani our version of Amare Stoudemire?

i.e. We know what they can do, but if the team is rolling right now, when you come back from injury, you may have to be a complement unless you show you can do what the current unit is doing.

Raptors1995 12-18-2012 10:14 PM

Lowry should be back in time for the game against the Spurs.

I look at this thread and see Lowry in it, and I'm like, why was this thread even created? I look at the author, raptor123, silence. :reporter:
