Default What do we do with Kleiza now?

it is very obvious that he doesn't belong on this team at this point, he is slow, and doesn't come off the bench very well.

are we able to trade him at this point? if so, what do we do and what can we get for him? or has the experiment failed so miserably that he is playing himself out of this league again?

thoughts? rants?

i think his time has come and gone!!

Ed Davis, Sonny, JB, DDR, these guys are starting to play well together, and if Amir can keep improving like we have seen today, there really is no need for Klieza who gave the game away in the 4th today with bad shots and bad turnovers.

we don't need his experience as he really doesn't bring that much to the team that we don't have in Jose and Bargs. Peja offers us much more value in that department, as well we have Reggie who has way more experience that Klieza.

does he have any value in this league anymore?

i don't think so, i think we should cut that cord and let Wright play!

Some playoff team will be in need of a spot of shooter come February. That's all he's good for, not to demean that role - it's an important one. But I think his success overseas while performing a more prominent role, has him thinking he's something more than just a shooter.

Trade him ASAP.

You won't get anything from Kleiza playing him 15 minutes or less a game. When he plays 30+ minutes then he's effective. Otherwise it's a waste for both sides. Dude took 2 shots today and everyone is throwing a hissy fit about his worth. He's a great player and doesn't fit here. He dropped 41 in Denver and was a top 5 Euroleague player. He probably has the biggest resume of any Raptor... not as good as Bargnani in the NBA, but with his International and European career. Plus he was a beast in Missouri.

He has obviously forgotten how to play basketball. Maybe if we're lucky we can trade him for Jamario Moon

You can give him some time for him to figure out his role, but how much time can we give him? We've played better with a tighter rotation.

today, we needed play from the wings, and we didn't get it. overall this season, we do better with a shorter bench, but, that is NOT the goal of this season! if we are to develop the young guys, we will need to watch them struggle.

Kleiza is NOT a young guy. he came in as an experienced guy, he has not proven that! period

Agreed. Kleiza can light it up but the problem is that his usual NBA role (6th man/scoring option) on this team is basically taken by Barbosa. Kleiza has gone from "the man" this past summer on the Lithuanian team as well as a #1 option in Europe to a role player off the bench with a currently undefined role.

Having a guy like Kleiza being your 7th or 8th man is not a bad thing, but it will take time for him to settle into his role. He needs to realize that he has to be more a hustle player on this team.

I think he can still work out. Although he doesn't seem to take advantage of his opportunities, I don't know if its he needs something run for him or if its just his confidence. He is a great shooter someone who was going to spread the floor but he is giving up looks for bad passes and the only thing falling for him is his baby hook. That being said I think he does get over looked by his teammates. He had some great flashes to the post but was not found by anyone.

Kleiza is 25, not young but not ancient. He should be more seasoned with his pedigree, I agree, but unfortunately he's getting yo-yo minutes and that never helps with a player on a new team trying to find his role. He's also been out of the NBA for a couple years.
--------------------

This is a totally out of the box idea, and I don't even know if it's possible given Kleiza's age, but would it be possible to send Kleiza down to the D-League for a few games to rediscover his edge (with his consent)? Given a few games to dominate the competition while getting lots of minutes may help him get his mojo back.

Either that or we need to give him more minutes... He came to this team on what appears to be a tacit agreement to be our starting SF; now that Weems is in that spot, Kleiza is probably disappointed at his lack of PT and a diminishing role on the team.

-------

It's almost starting to look like Kleiza is going to be on the short list of solid Raptors role players who there just aren't enough minutes to give to. We used to dump our crap on other teams (ie. Joey Graham, Ukic, Krap-ono, etc.) but lately there have been several solid Raptors who we just haven't had room for but have enjoyed moderate success on other teams with a glaring need at that position:

Delfino, Humphries, Belinelli. Most recently J. Jack. I'm wondering if Kleiza is going to join that list.

do you really think that he should be coming off the bench that far down the list?? I would prefer to see Peja come off the bench that far down the roster as he is the 4th overall 3 point shooter in league history and i would feel WAY more confident giving the ball to him that a guy who had a good season playing Euro ball after mediocre results here playing against the best in the world... just a thought!

man we use that term too lightly... Ray Allen is a GREAT SHOOTER!! Peja has proved over the years to be a GREAT SHOOTER!! Linas averages 8.4 ppg over his career and you are calling him a great shooter?? wow

I like him and before he got injured he started to play really well. I think if he starts he'll be good. Triano doesn't give him enough PT to be effective. Also, INSIDER nice one :P
