Unless get an amazing offer at the deadline, it makes the most sense to re-sign him, hopefully to a reasonable deal. At this point, it would be really difficult to tank into the bottom 8 anyways, even bottom 10 wouldn't be easy, so trading him for an expiring/filler + a decent young player isn't really gonna benefit us much. So far, he hasn't missed a game all season (prolly something to do with our medical staff, too) and is in the best shape I've seen him, so its very possible that he's only gonna continue to produce at a high level. I think the playoffs will be really exciting with him as our floor general.

Far too late to trade em now. Its pretty obvious were not going to tank. He's played well, so why not keep em.

Definitely not too late to trade him. If we trade him it doesn't 100% mean we're tanking, it could be a deal to improve the team.

The only move that makes sense is trading him. Masai will not give up financial flexibility to keep together a roster that's a 6th seed any other year.

Still early in his career, but why did it have to be a Canadian to crap the bed so hard?

I'm not sure, but I think the timeline to extend him has passed. If we hold onto him, he'll become a free agent with a chance of him straight-up walking away. As much as I love Lowry as a player, we have to flip him.

For the future, and for his current contract situation.

Is he a restricted FA? If so, I'd wait until the offseason and decide then. We would have the power to decide when he signs an offer sheet from another club. We're first in the titanic division and are playing our best ball of the season. Why mess that up? He's on fire right now... Let's ride this wave.

As DanH has previously posted: the chances of Lowry extending are slim to none. The most he can get through an in-season extension is roughly 7 million, and he'll definitely command more than that. Either you trade him or you risk losing him for nothing.

Will be SHOCKED if he's still a Raptor after the trade deadline. I like Kyle. Have wanted him here for a long time because THIS is what I thought he'd be capable of. Just sucks that things aren't lining up better.

Pretty much. I wish we could extend him tbh, but ultimately if that can't be done i think he's as good as gone within the next few weeks.

Poll is flawed. Obvious answer is extend, as that means Lowry at his best locked in for 3 years (not too long or too short a contract) at a decent 7 M per year. That's an asset you can keep or trade for a great return.

My real choice is trade him, since extension will never happen. Still, as the poll is set up, my vote goes to extend.

Peaking? IMO most players are in their prime 26-32. He's 27!! He seems to have matured quite a bit in the last year and is really becoming a leader on the floor, you can see that when he interacts with JV on the floor and just the way he's playing.
