you know what i mean, lowry has never been legitmately consitent an entire season, he has moments for a couple months then settles down. he plays well when theres fire under him, keep it that way pls ujiri

depends on what we can get for dude..
it's easy as fans to get excited and be like.. re-sign Casey, or give Lowry a contract, since we be winning games lately.. but we don't want to be temporary success.. we want long term, and if moving Lowry can bring in a few pics then go for it

and yea, Casey is doing well

I just don't see a whole lot of teams out there that need a starting PG bad enough to pay him a fuck ton of money. Take a look around the league, most teams already have their number one guy.

If we can't get a top 15 pick for him, I'd say you take the risk and let him go into free agency and vie to re-sign him. Most of the big market teams are in huge binds right now regarding cap space. As can be seen here: Looking Toward 2014′s Salary Cap | HOOPSWORLD | Basketball News & NBA Rumors

We got rid of Rudy so we have a lot more flexibility going into next year and with Kobe re-signing, the Lakers have a lot less than it shows there. And outside of the Lakers the only team that has space and is doing well is Golden State, and their 1-2 is set for the next decade. I think we can reasonably contend with the likes of Milwaukee, Utah and other lottery-bound teams to keep Lowry in the fold, especially if we could lock up a home court seed and win the first round.

I say trade him but its not mandatory. If he walks and the Raps get nothing in return its not a bad thing in my mind since his money will come off the books. I don't think he'll re-sign with the Raptors unless he gets overpaid but it's more important that they draft a young PG in the first round that they could develop into the future floor general.

Letting probably the best player on the team walk for nothing would be horrible because then you'd have to find a PG who'd match his play and productivity. It would be a wasted asset.

Acquiring a first round pick would be ideal but right now, that's unlikely unless it's a late first and that probably wouldn't be all that helpful for the Raps(although it's better than letting Lowry walk for nothing).

Trading him just to trade him because he's a pending UFA runs the risk of getting an unwanted player or two who might not fit the Raps scheme moving forward then leaving them stuck with a contract that's pinned to the bench. I rather see them use that money to pay a more desired free agent who'll have more impact in an area of need.

I wonder if Raps fans would rather Lowry or make a play for Bledsoe who's an RFA in the off season. Keep Lowry for 4 years/32 Million is reasonable too,if he'd sign for that to stay in Toronto.

I feel like Suns will match whatever Eric is offered. Although they are apparently going hard after Hayward, and also have Dragic.

If extensxion is out of the picture, we need to wait until summer.
There is no better fit for our PG position out there. Quite a few teams can throw big money at Lowry, so Masai will have to give him Ty Lawson kind of money right there.

This.

Seems to me, even as well as he's played of late, that he is regarded around theleague as a top tier backup rather than a top tier starter. I was actually just looking through a Chat wrap at ESPN and saw this question and answer:

Quote:
Andrew (Ljubljana)

WHY IS NO ONE GIVING MU A DECENT OFFER FOR LOWERY?!?!?! I mean, seriously. He's gotta be more valuable then Asik? At least he is cheap and playing ball right now.

Amin (4:04 PM)

Lowry is a highlevel backup PG. Asik is a team defensive anchor.
Now I'm not to familiar with Amin Elhassan - he's an ESPN Insider and used to be with the Suns, but that sentiment could help us resign Lowry at a decent price if accurate.

Amin is a moron.

Asik is locked down for 4yrs and Lowry is a rental. And I don't think GM's look at Lowry as a backup. I've said this before but imo Klow is a top 15 PG in the nba. Some may think he's closer to 20.....but he's a top 5 defensive player at his position and I would also say top 5 as a rebounder at the PG position as well.

You might be overrating Lowry's defence, at least his one-on-one defence.

Maybe a little but not by much. It's the hardest position to defend imo and he is one of the best at the position.

I believe that what you're missing is where he lets people drive by him. Just because it's not a corner, doesn't mean it's not a form of D. Because now Amir is waiting in the paint.
Also the way he sacrifices his body taking charges gotta count as excellent D.

Winning and play-offs are very beneficial for younger players. and it outweighs the risk of KL walking.
What kind of contract would be impossible to move if need be, 11mil/year?
What can a talented rookie PG achieve with a bunch of losers?

Masai won't let Lowry walk without getting some asset in return.
I think a reasonable extension makes sense or we trade him. It's all about maintaining your asset base and then adding over time ...

Extending Lowry will not happen. Either you trade him or you try to re-sign him in free agency and risk him leaving for nothing. An extension for Lowry in-season can be at most $7 million per year for 3 years, and Lowry can definitely command more than that and get a longer contract.
