more fg percentage because they could get a lot of points off a lot of attempts which would be an indication of turnovers on our part or the pace of the game

True, all you have to do is watch games and you'll know if a team is good defensively.

Points per 100 possessions against.

2010-11 NBA Season Summary | Basketball-Reference.com

Sort the DRtg column. Raps are second last in the NBA at 111.3

Opp FG%
Forced Turnovers
and Opp Players' box score

usually look at the box score on nba.com

but its true, you usually have to watch the game to see how good defensively a team is

I guess what I mean is that if you look at a teams record, you can pretty much figure out if they are playing enough defence if they have a good record. even teams that let the other team hit 100 points yet still win are playing good defence for the tempo they play at.

difference between 80 and 100 is 10 shots. If a team is playing up tempo ball, you can eat a lot of those possessions right there.

If I was forced to name a stat..... Defensive rebounding. It's simple, play defence properly, deny and and move you feet and you will start every shot sequence for rebounding off in the better inside position. Team that are chasing and gambling and playing with their hands lose position too much, give up 2nd chance points.

opponent's FG% and rebounding are my must have top 2
then its opponent's total FTs because if they're shooting a lot of FTs we're just giving them easy open "free" points, only time this might not be a bad stat is if they're doing a hack a shaq/howard type player

Raps are worst in the league at opponent shots at the rim (% of shots at the rim divided by total attempts).

Hoopdata - NBA Expected Effective Field Goal Percentage (sort by O%rim).

But just an interesting stat since Sac and Pho are two of the best and OKC is second worst.

Opponents FG% shows a pretty good order of who's best vs who's worst. Raps are last at 49.2%.

Raps last there, too (OeFG%). Just too bad Jay doesn't have any defensive minded wing players looking for minutes. hmmmm

Being Defense minded is something that needs to be preached and practised.
Traino is not effectively preaching this. OUr players have the capability to play good defense. They are just choosing not to.
How many times did i see someone under the net letting Sacramento go right by with not even batting an eyelash.
The team needs reggies pressence on court or at least someone with fire in them to lead by example, becaus eTriano is not doing it.
