What about Bosh to the Spurs?

There's a similar thread in a SA forum, and for me, at least, it makes a lot of sense.

There are a ton of combinations, but all would involve Bosh and Manu Ginobili. The Spurs are getting old, are lost without Duncan in the court, and he's already 33. Bosh would be the perfect choice for the new upcoming generation. Well, the Raptors know there are slim chances of keeping Bosh this offseason, we have Andrea locked up through a long term deal and we need energy, hustle players. The Spurs can offer a backcourt scorer (manu), 31, he'll be fine about injuries, his ankle looks like pefect for me. He brings energy, he drives the crowd crazy, and he's one of the clutchest players in the league!. He's a good defender and he forces turnovers. Of course, the Spurs would have to add much more, and they could throw DaJuan Blair (Defense, rebounding, pick'n roll finisher at the rim), George Hill (NBA's top defensive PG for me), future picks or the rights to Tiago Splitter (the top international center). Maybe a pack that includes both Manu and Jefferson?

Bosh + POB -> Manu + Blair + Splitter + 1st rounder?
Bosh -> Manu + Jefferson?
Bosh + POB -> Manu + Blair + Hill?
Bosh + POB -> Jefferson + Blair + Hill?

It'd make sense for both teams. TO and Colangelo really need to save this franchise. And anohter losing season would be disastrous.

What do you think?

Ginobili would be solid. Bosh would probably love to play in Texas. Blair must be in it otherwise I would say there's definitely a better deal out there.

But he needs to be in the deal. He wouldn't have much room in SA BTW (Duncan, Bosh, McDyess, Bonner, Ratliff)

Mainly, I'd want George Hill..Blair and Splitter would be stellar pick ups as well..Manu habitually torches us, so it'd be nice to have him on our club..IMO this is actually the best package I've seen so far..

Not necessarily. I think they would give more minutes to blair over mcdyess and ratliff. The starting 4 and 5 would be Bosh and duncan. the bench would be blair and bonner. I think the spurs are also more keen on keeping blair over mcdyess. I also think this trade is very improbable, but it would give SA easily one of the best starting line-ups in the league.

Parker- Bogans(I like Mason Jr better but Bogans is starting as of late) - Jefferson - Bosh - Duncan.

This is the best proposal I think I've seen yet, fits our needs almost too perfectly except for the obvious one (a real mvp type player) which to be aqcuired via trade with Bosh would have to include some other significant players from our roster anyways. Dejuan has looked good so far this year too, the Spurs have a history of making good late picks.

I think if we're going to trade Bosh it should be because we have given up and we're going to go through a rebuilding year. Where we get rid of some big contracts for draft picks and young talent.

Raptors would want Blair. W/out Blair, this deal woouldn't be possible. I wanted to say that Blair is kind of expendable "present wise"

From ur post it looked like u were saying they would trade blair cause he wouldnt get minutes since SA would have bosh, duncan, bonner, ratliff and mcdyess. My bad.

You'd have to think that the Spurs will be calling. But the package might have to be a little better than a Manu that is past his prime, and Blair.

Then again - if Blair keeps developing so well, I would have to wonder if they would feel that they need to go after Bosh and give up other players as well.

Still got a lot of games left to be played in the season before thinking about trading Bosh.

It wouldn't be a bad trade but I still think Bosh in Miami would be awesome if they can afford it.

Unless the trade brings Tony Parker to Toronto, I don't really like it.

Including Manu in the deal could be problematic, depending on when the deal takes place. If the deal takes place this season, it's risky because Manu is a free agent next summer. He could walk just as easily as Bosh, leaving Toronto with nothing. Manu would only be included if he agreed to sign an extension with Toronto. But, unless he agrees to a substantial pay cut, I don't think Manu would be a good fit in Toronto. His current salary is $10.7 million. Manu is already 32 and would be 33 at the start of next season. His play is going to drop off big time in the next year or two.

The only way trading with the Spurs is worthwhile is if the prospects they give BC are better than anything he could get elsewhere. I think BC could do slightly better. I can think of at least 2 teams that would love Bosh and have a good, realistic package to offer in exchange for him.

On a somewhat related note, in other threads, I've seen Dejuan Blair receive a lot of praise and people have expressed shock that he fell so far in the draft. No doubt, he's a good player. I don't know if it is common knowledge around here or not, but Blair does not have any ACLs. A number of doctors think he'll only be in the league for 3-4 years. And that's assuming he does a good job of maintaining the required balance in his leg muscles. The Spurs are looking to win right away so they could take a risk on him. There's a lot of potential for Blair's career to be cut real short. He's definitely a good player, but he's not an excellent prospect because of the risk factor. For a team that is looking to the future, Blair is much more of a gamble.

They'd have to give us some young talent in return. We're not giving up a top 10 player in the league for a good 6th man (manu).

Tony Parker would be a must. As well as Blair and George Hill.

+1

Manu doesn't excite me at all. Blair, i don't care what anybody says has had several knee problems already (not good for a big at all). Not a fan unless we get Parker which will never happen.

You're all wrong about it

If you take all the "ifs" as truth, Bosh would be Darko Milicic

- Bosh always starts hot, never plays well in the end of any season
- Bosh is skinny
- Bosh has the tendency to take jump shots he can't drain instead of going to the rim
- Bosh can't be a leader
- Bosh's presence destroys team chemistry, because he just wants money and complains about his situation instead of talking to his teammates and trying to improve this motherf&(% defense

I understand the point that you really, , really, , really need to be 1000% sure when you trade Bosh. Actually, the only deal that should be considered is Kobe, Gasol, Bynum and Odom for Bosh. Maybe Garnett, Pierce, Rondo and Allen (but I forgot, Garnett lost all last season, Allen is a FA and Pierce is old)

There's no Hunger player in the NBA than Manu Ginobili, specially because of guys like you. Blair just had 18/11 against the Celtics, shooting 9 of 11. His knees are great. He's flying all around the court. Yes, Splitter will stay more years on Spain. Just like Scola. In the same team
